My brother plays an Enh Shaman. He went up 1k DPS after 4.0 simply because he took the time to check stuff out. Also plays a Prot Pally, after telling him many tanks I've had in 5 mans and an ICC have had threat troubles, he had none that were out of the usual.
The only class I see actually 'gimped' in terms of melee is Warriors. My friend and myself have lost a good deal of damage and mitigation as both Prot and DPS specs... And I'll be the first to admit I don't really get the new priorities too well.
Anyone who is complaining about low DPS etc, I'm not going to say "lolbad" or "QQ more". I'm going to simply ask you to look through your specs and think out what comes when.

The "tears" of 4.0, aside from buggy glitchy stuff, is mostly people that are not used to this drastic of a change. They actually have to do some experimenting and research. They actually have to THINK when they fight instead of just spam 3 or 4 buttons while staying out of fire. I think this patch will weed out a lot of the bads.

I can already feel the warrior QQs flowing... normalized rage is something blizzard has been toying with for years but always has backed out due to insane amounts of complaining. Apparently having a fixed method of resource generation like every other class makes warriors hurt.
These days I mostly just level, I am trying to get all classes to 80. From a leveling perspective this patch was beyond awesome. I just spec'd my warlock destro for the hell of it because conflag is base for destro now and he annihilates mobs. Immo, conflag, two searing pains and they are dead and it uses very little mana. My hunter is also having a ball with explosive shot.
In general things are going to be quite imbalanced until the expansion. The gear is simply not itemized correctly for the new stat systems and talents. I trust blizz to get it right down the road.
Remember people it was the exact same thing when tbc and wrath came out. Tbc saw dots getting insane multipliers, wrath saw everyone's dmg go through the roof and remember paladins literally 2 shotting people? Things will be adjusted.
This exactly.
Also, as a tank who takes low, low amounts of damage, I welcome a chance to actually gain some rage when I get smacked.

I really like alot of the new stuff. I think it makes you have to think about how you play for a change. My problem is the patch itself is a giant mess. It is extremely buggy and glitchy.
I had an instance tonight where I was in a dungeon and out of the blue all enemy mobs and bosses became "Invalid Targets". Meaning I cant target anything. Earlier I couldn't attack if anything was between me and my enemy. By anything I mean a corpse, a tiny bug, another player, anything. It kept telling me that the target wasn't in line of sight.
I really think that Blizzard should have broken this patch in two. 4.0 now and 4.1 in a month or so.

I read through the patch notes during the download. They seemed extremely vague considering the massive changes taking place. Are there more in depth notes somewhere?

I've had to turn off trade its gotten so bad.
You use trade? I always keep it off unless I'm looking for VoA =P
My complaint is having my damage drop by about 4k. It sucks. Especially since both my 80's are melee.
Ehh I think melee deserve it. WOTLK was altogether a very melee-based expansion. Kill em off and let the ranged into the sun IMO.
It was? I always* see people asking for ranged dps, and they always do the most damage in my raids (outside of rogues.)
*Don't be stupid and say "NOT ALWAYS." I use "always" as slang for "quite often."

The changes have my Screwed-Up most of my 80's are melee toons and one of them is a Ret Pally. I went from doing 10k dps in Heroics to 3.5-4k. And the sad thing my Fury Warrior Gained about .5dps on single target.
This is going to be a fun few weeks relearning what makes my toons tick and dps.
Ooo and My Bm Hunter Pulling 6k Dps in VH thats a Bm the laughing stock of all the hunter spec's in Wrath.
Looks like I'll be getting pen and paper and going to the dumbies alot and relearn my toons.
Edit: And Don't forget that on Caster Dps there has been talk of Warlocks and Boomkins hitting for 35k with one single spell. Thats will Kill amost anything that is in range.
