Deafening Silence (Text Adventure)

Alright, I'm going to try my hand at running a text adventure. For those unfamiliar, a text adventure is a game run in a manner similar to that of
You Awaken in Razor Hill
(which initially was done on the official forums), or
MS Paint Adventures
.
While these types of games tend to advocate silliness and comedy, I will be doing my best to keep this story mostly serious. While I will make sure to look at every command, I reserve the right to choose which commands I incorporate into the story and which I do not.
Commands can be anything, but words marked in CAPS tend to be relevant to the plot. Commands of particular interest are PAUSE (pauses the game, displays character status, and shows a quick inventory), and INVENTORY or INVENT (brings up a detailed inventory).

Welcome to DEAFENING SILENCE.
You wake up with a start. Judging by the darkness, you guess that it is nighttime. You are lying in a comfortable bed, facing the ceiling. Looking around, you see a DOOR, an UNLIT CANDLE, and a WINDOW.

>You light the candleYou have nothing to light it with.
--> Look outside the window. You stand up and move over to the window. You immediately realize that the window has been left open. You don't remember leaving it open, though.
Looking out the second story window, you can barely discern the details of the exterior of your house. In the distance you can see the horizon, where the full moon lies perched. It is very quiet. A lantern illuminates your front door and you can just make out a figure standing at your door.

--> Sneak out the window and watch the figure from a safe distance. You carefully climb from the window, making sure not to slip. A fall from this height wouldn't kill you, but it could certainly break something, and worse, it would attract attention from the figure on your porch.
As you reach the ground, you try to get a better look at said figure. From this angle, it becomes apparent that the figure in question is a girl in her early teens, wearing a white nightgown. She looks distressed.

> Keep watching to see if she does anything. You continue to watch from the shadows. She seems to be trying to turn the doorknob, but it is locked, and she cannot enter.
You're thankful for that.

Talk about throwing everything out of whack.
Didn't mean to interrupt, I was just curious as to what the pause and inventory screens look like.
And if Skree would be angered if I were to perhaps work something like them into my Text Adventure. :D

> If not, grab some of the earth to use on a sneaky attack.Unable to find a suitable weapon, you scoop up a HANDFUL OF DIRT. It's better than nothing, and if necessary, you can use it to blind an enemy.

Having seen a mysterious figure at your door, you are feeling a bit worried. You are still able to maintain your levelheadedness, though, and you're able to think clearly about your situation.

1x HANDFUL OF DIRT
It's not really a weapon, but it's better than nothing. You should probably wash your hands before the next time you eat.

>Shout at the intruder. You take a moment to wonder whether or not to shout at the intruder. Up until now you have been able to go unnoticed, but you might be able to scare away the strange figure if you shout at her.
Do decide to shout anyway?

>YesDeciding that it's better to take the risk of detection if it scares the intruder away, you yell loudly at the girl in white.
She looks fearfully in your direction, before running off into the darkness. Whoever she was, she's gone now.

>Look around to get any clues where - and when, come to think of it - you are.You look around, wondering where you are. You quickly remember that this is your simple farm house on the outskirts of Grant Hamlet.
Something isn't quite right, however, but you can't tell what. Focusing hard, you realize that the total silence is the source of the strange feeling in your gut. Normally the surrounding landscape is full of a deafening din of insect and animal sounds. Now, however, it is deathly quiet... unnervingly so.
To your SOUTH, you see the full moon rising over the horizon. To the EAST, you see a thick forest, where you often go to cut firewood. To the WEST, you see a tall line of mountains. To the NORTH is your house.
