By the way,
my guild's log
on crimson hall to compare starfall on princes.
Well that quite clearly shows that Starfall was one of your worst spells in that encounter. 13 Starsurges did more damage than your 61 stars (9 of which missed). Only Sunfire was worse for you.
but dps is dps...and it doesnt hit any orbs. so therefore good raiding practice would be knowing which spells you can use w/o causing problems for your raid, and using them to maximize dps, no?

Those 9 stars were absorbs and a single crit (from a first hit on a kinetic), which indicate hits on the kinetic bombs.
Here.
These are actually directly beneficial in the sense that it allows the person assigned to them a few extra shots at the active boss.
And by the distribution of damage dealt with the spell, I can tell he took station towards the right side of the room which, while I do not know if it was a conscious choice, will limit stars to Taldaram and Valanar unless Keleseth was on that side of the room chasing the ranged tank.
In terms of a damage boost? No, it is not really the best choice due to the chance that the stars do not land on the active target. In terms of a useful spell to have? Yes, I'd still use it in a rotation if only for those 10 stars that DID land on a useful confirmed target. We'd always prefer more damage done, but a single poke from a star worth 11-14k at most is also ~to a GCD of another classes focus fire. I'd say it's a good trade off for that alone.

Yeah Keleseth is moving accordingly. It's not only me but the ranged tank doing it so.

Just a thought having just read a comment posted on Graylos blog:
A la WotLK Bear, and the fact that we are still spamming buttons like crazy with the new spell queueing system it could be worth binding Starsurge to our other 4 spells to ensure it gets cast on cooldown or as soon as Shooting Stars procs. I'm not sure it would be a particular dps increase but I know for me anyway, having the extra keybind will be handy.
Fairly sure this won't work. I tried to set it up on the PTR and it did not work then. I'd be happy to use the macro if someone got one working.

Starfall does 1 star a second at up to 2 targets. 20 stars total possible but only 10 to a single target. During each second there are 2 different targets chosen for the stars to fall on, the same target cannot be chosen twice in the same second.
Worst to best case scenario:
1/3 - Only the 3 bosses are in range, Effective damage of starfall drops to 2/3rds of normal single target.
1/2 - Only 2 bosses in range, Break even with single target damage.
3/5 - 3 bosses and 2 kinetic bombs, greater then 50% chance that a star lands on a useful target.
2/3 - 2 bosses and a kinetic bomb or 2 bombs and an incorrect boss, 66.6% chance for it to deal useful damage, or greater then normal single target.
3/4 - 2 bombs and 2 bosses, 75% chance that It hits a useful target. and 50% more then normal single target.
3/3 - 2 bombs and the active boss, 100% chance it deal effective damage at standard multitarget damage.
Other then a small case scenario, Starfall is always worth as much or more then a normal single target rotation use, during Princes.

It should work with a castsequence macro with a 1 sec reset on it. If SS isn't queued during the gcd of the first spell the macro goes back to the start and tries again.
I can't remember off the top of my head how to write it but it would look something like this:
#showtooltip Wrath
/castsequence "reset=1", Wrath, Starsurge
I'll do some tests when I get home and have the info infront of me.
Definitely interested in how this would work out. But i can tell you one thing. Spell Queuing is not in 4.0.1 from what I understand, only 4.0.3 and on. Can't find the blue post saying so though I remember reading it :(

Spent around 2 hours with a friend who is intimately familiar with the macro system within WoW in an attempt to do an SS+SF and SS+W macro. The only method that currently works is an external macro program (or keyboard like the g15) that clicks both in succession.
Side note:
Should, I do a mini write up of the talents and what they are used for as seen in some of the other guides?

I wouldnt have thought a full breakdown was necessary. maybe just an explanation of why some "optional" talents are/nt necessary/useful would do. Given the structure of the 31 point trees there isn't really much choice. Maybe say why mana talents aren't useful and why you would/nt spec into SB and why FG isn't useful right now...
Yeah, I dunno, I feel like I have not made many changes to it recently and it makes me want to do something at least, lol.
Any other things you all would like to see?

One question, which I can test out myself I guess, Does this only work with Shooting Stars procs or all SS casts?
Edit: Oh damn that's sexy... Gonna add these to the guide now...
