Where you are on the meters is irrelevant. Your DPS seems rather low for Heroic ICC though, with 30% out anyone in mediocre gear should be pulling 13k at least.

Once again Fin opens his mouth and arrogence spews forth (no offence intended but really man, what works for you might not for someone else and you didn't consider that). Speaking for myself I could not pull that kind of dps in my current gear, on heroic, in Demo, because I suck at managing my procs. I *can* however pull something similar on destro, because that is what works for me. Each spec has it's weaknesses and the fights in icc IMPO (P for Personal) exploit the weaknesses of each and every spec, not all at once obviously, but in the way that some fights are more difficult to pull good dps in a certain spec.
In the end it comes down to what works for you, and a really good player can do really good dps, no matter the fight, in the spec that works for them. Even a really good player, however, can be brought down by playing a spec that doesn't work for them.

Can you sim each encounter?
And simming differen talent trees doesn't make you play the talent tree better.

@Sellas
He is asking for dps on a range of fight, not just tank and spank.
If you can manage a tank and spank that doesn't automatically means you are doing good dps on non-tank and spank.
As for the talent thing, I misread your post (thinking you said sim your gear in all talent trees) my bad.
@Vorago
RAIDdps or PERSONALdps. Going for a lot of spellpower to make your demonic pact extra strong, or going for a more balanced stats spread to increase your own dps.
At the OP, why the obsession with your dps? Are you getting comments on it? If not are you unsure you are pulling your weight?
If the boss died and you did your job, then your dps was high enough.

as demo are you gearing to maximise your own output or are you gearing to maximise the DP buff?
question:
Where is a demo lock on the meters?
answer:
Where you are on the meters is irrelevant.
whether mastor likes the tone or not fin answered this thread in the first post. the problem is that frizzle isn't understanding the concepts he's asking about and isn't really asking anything we can answer.
is "3th" a good place on the meters? well that depends on whether your entire guild sucks.
fingulfin correctly dismissed place on meters and went on to look at what can be relevant to a forum discussion and that is DPS.
it's a bit low.
or to put it another way:
Your DPS seems rather low for Heroic ICC
if the OP wants help with that then they need to make sure they've read through the FAQ and stickies and post their armoury link with details of the spell priority they follow

Well, I haven't got comments and they are happy to have me because of the SP buff. But, about the boss dieing, they are not dieing with ease. So yeah, unsure if i'm pulling my weight, hence the topic.
As long as you're not last on the dps you're doing fine. And even then if everyone else out gears you then there is no reason to be unhappy that you come last.

When you raid with a Demo warlock, where is this warlock on the meter?
this is the problem though. the position of that demo lock on the meters is barely effected by their spec.
it is effected by:
the player's skill
the character's gear
the rest of the raid's skill
the rest of the raid's gear
the particular fight's mechanics
you're asking for a generalisation where there really isn't one to make.
demo locks do very well is about as much as there is to say.
you're probably doing a little less than your character is capable of. if you want help with that then you'll need to give us some relevant information. if you're just checking to see if demo has an inherent disadvantage then no it doesn't.
i strongly disagree with mastor's comment. NEVER settle!
always strive to do better.
beat the people who are geared better.
"fine" is not good enough.
also, don't wait for raid leaders to express their dissatisfaction before trying to improve your contribution.

I didn't say settle. I said if you arn't doing as well as people who out gear you that's not all that bad. None of my toons have much in the way of gold, because I spend most of my time working on how to get my toon more prepared for raids, practicing the rotations/priorities, getting pots/flasks, farming mats for better stuff, and running pretty much everything I can to get more variety of experience. I also always do my homework in advance, when it comes to a boss I havn't done before I make damn sure I know everything I need to about the encounter. Tankspot vids, wowhead and wowwiki articles, even wow.com blood pact blog. I make sure I know what to do and when to do it. Now no matter how much reading you do, you are never going to be perfect just by reading. Experiencing things for yourself is the best teacher as they say.
I agree with you, fine is not good enough, but it's a good place to start and we all gotta start somewhere. But some (like me) just got started a little later that others (like you).

how is this about gold or how long either of
us
have been playing?
you said As long as you're not last on the dps you're doing fine.
and that is a terrible attitude to have and to promote..

@ mastor: no offense bro, but fingulf is allowed to be arrogant, he's better than you
on to the topic at hand
obviously theres a lot of factors that determine where you are on the meters, but demo can be pretty high up there.
logs of my last week in guild: (fyi my gear level is about in the middle compared to the rest of the dps)

etc. etc.
tl;dr: im in top 3 or 4 pretty consistently, but occasionally come in first. when i do lose, its to rogues/hunters/fury warriors/or fire mage
which i have no problem with cuz theyre all pure dps... except for warriors... grrrrr
edit: didnt link bql cuz they never bite me :( but ive done 22k on 10 man i promise im not terribad)
