"Failure to drink coffee requires destruction by protocol 111010111" the robot announced, advancing menacingly on the two gnomes. Lektri fired a bolt of flame at the robot and it caught fire, it kept advancing, but it soon stopped once its components melted through. Lektri watched the remains of the machine twitch several times, before becoming still. "I had heard rumours of this kind of thing happening in another parts of Gnomeregan, but I never realized they were true," he said, flipping the robot over and expertly tearing a panel off of it. He nodded to no one in particular, "my suspicions are confirmed, this one has been tampered with," he said, tearing out a small component and pocketing it. Lektri opened the door cautiously, looking in both directions, he then went to the door, it was locked. "What doesn't make sense is why whoever did this does not target places of high importance rather than simple shops," he whispered, as he turned the knob. The door was jammed.
"Confound it," Lektri said, "we will have to get out some other way," he said, spinning around as the door they had just come from swung shut. Suddenly even more of the robots appeared, marching towards them from the other end of the hallway. A large metal projectile ricocheted off the wall nearby. More of the objects hurtled past. Lektri caught onto Barell's sleeve and dragged the gnome along, however he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a larger robot looming ahead, unmoving.

Lektri watched the large robot intently, it still had not budged. Several projectiles smacked into it, the 'eyes' of the machine shot open and it began to advance, it ignored Lektri and Barell and went to attack the ones that had damaged it. Lektri breathed a sigh of relief, "at least not all of my inventions have been tampered with," he said. Several of the smaller robots were crushed and the were strewn lifelessly across the carpet. The mage gave the battered door behind the robot a shove and it swung open, suddenly they were out in the fresh air, but something was not right.
There were no gnomes to be seen in the entire street, rather there was a small group of robots that Lektri had never seen before vandalizing a nearby shop. The gnome disabled them by sending shards of ice flying through their metal legs. He frowned, "either the street was cordoned off, or something chased everyone off," he said. Several other robots were milling around, though they were all damaged and did not respond.
Lektri went back to the front door of his shop, inside all of the robots he had used for security had collapsed and something was missing. The frantically searched the room, other than the robots everything seemed to be in order. Then he saw it, one of the many vials in the room was missing. "What would a thief want a vial of liquefied liferoot for?"
Lektri double checked the room, only that single vial had been taken. "What I don't understand is why the thief only took the one, why not take several vials of liquefied liferoot or something more useful?" he continued, not asking anyone in particular. "Run and get any police gnomes in the vicinity, tell them what has happened, they should be on their way at least, an entire street filled with rioting machines is no minor occurrence... I will just see if I can find anything in the memory chips of the intact ones here," he said turning to Barell, paying attention to the other gnome for the first time in ten minutes. He then turned back to the robots and began to pry open the backs of multiple robots, taking out small components and putting them in a neat pile.

Lektri was alarmed to find that someone had in effect ensured that even if the robots were not fully damaged, the memory of the machines was. Lektri quickly put the intact ones into action, "clean this place up, fix all of the other robots and do not let anyone in except for me," he said. He had to repeat the line twice until the robots sprung into action, it would be some time before they repaired themselves and the rest of Lektri's shop and house fully. He left and all the doors to the house were shut and the windows had their steel slats drawn across, the gnome could already hear the robots get to work fixing all the damage that had been done.
He walked away from the building, closing the gate to the small garden type area around his house. It would be some time he knew, before the shop would be in a decent-enough state for customers. The gnome made his way along, a large group of gnomish officers were around, surveying the damage and detaining the remaining robots as well as questioning what witnesses they could find. Several other gnomes were around, putting out fires and attending to the large number of wounded. "Excuse me, did you see a fellow gnome by the name of Barell by any chance? He came to report what happened here," Lektri asked the officer in charge. The other gnome shook his head, "this
incident
was reported by one of our officers who was on duty at the time," he said, "why do you ask?"
Lektri was alarmed at the information, "a friend of mine by the name of Barell was here moments ago, he ran to get help, but he has not come back," he said. The officer closed his eyes briefly, "Barell... Yes, we were at his shop not too long ago, there had been a break-in. Well, seeing as we have little other witnesses we could use with some help." Lektri nodded, after answering the gnomish police officer's question he went back on his way. The man had been kind enough as to dispatch a few gnomes to search for Barell. Lektri set off along the street in the direction he had last seen Barell, his eyes scanned the crowds that had assembled for any signs of him.

The officers returned, they had searched for Barell, but to no avail, other officers took over the job now to see if their search would bring better results. What Lektri had been able to find out was where Barell was last seen, and apparently someone had heard a shout in the area not long before. He began to search for signs of a struggle, however Lektri was no expert tracker so he was unable to find out if Barell really had been there. The gnome stood for a moment, surveying the area, trying to think of where Barell could have gone.

Lektri remained where he was, not a moment later he felt a vicious blow to the back of his head, the gnome stumbled around dazed, "ye gotta hit 'im again," a voice said vaguely from nearby. "Hit who?" Lektri asked. He felt the dwarf's fist make contact with the back of his head and the gnome was out in a second.

Mador Fireblade
Eastern Plaguelands
Mador had never liked being dragged around, but this time he was ready to forgive as the half-ogre had suprised him from behind. Indeed the larger member of the group was a half-ogre, strange to see one around here, he thought to himself.
- "I apologise if I scared you, but I thought not to be that bears dinner. Mador Fireblade is my name.", answered the orc, slightly leaning to his staff. "And you are?"

Lektri was dimly aware of being bundled into a room, however his head was swimming from the drug the kidnappers had recently used on him. His eyes were unfocused, but open and he was trying to see where he was, however the room was too bright for him so he closed them tightly.

Slowly Lektri came to his senses, his first action was to try and blast the door to his cell down with magic, however when he did bring up magic it seared him. The gnome cried out in pain, clutching his wrist where the flames had seared them. He realized that he must of had a large dose of an anti-magic drug administered to him. He began searching the cell for a way out, he had been thoroughly checked for devices that might help him get away. Then he remembered something, the gnome pulled out a small clip from his pocket, he pushed it up against the door and with a loud explosion it toppled over. The twisted metal made sickening squelching sounds under his feet and he realized it must have crushed whoever it was that had been guarding the door.

Lektri saw Barell, "Barell?" he said uncertainly, suddenly a trap door swung open beneath his feet and he fell into a large room, the trap door swung shut behind him. Crates and boxes were stacked on all sides, but other than that there was no one there. He landed roughly on a large pile of soft materials and rolled off to the side. The room would make an ideal hiding place if one was needed, but right now Lektri was more interested in what was in the crates.
