yup i think i got all those. thanks for the list.
the only thing i'm not understanding (which after koper's previous addition is probably my own ignorance) is "server=true". i looked up some stuff on unix time code and couldn't see anything obvious regarding servers there. i also tried just putting it in with a time and it didn't seem to alter anything.
feeling pretty stupid for repeatedly asking about it but if you can shed any more light on the subject my stubborn inability to let this one go would appreciate it.

something of a personal victory, i finally figured out what "server=true" actually
did
when put in
\
tags!
it seems so obvious now but it shows the true time instead of using the local clock of the person viewing your post (which could be wrong). i can die happy.

Excellent information.
This thread should be mentioned in the help section under <More>.
The "official" help is lacking information on "How-To-Post-Fancy-Stuff-With-BBCode"
It's a Wowhead specific thing though.
A bit of hidden information about the tag.
ou can use the gender attribute to change the icon. It's
gender=0
for males and
gender=1
for females. To demonstrate:
Human
Human

Ah cool, thanks. I'll find a place to slot that in. I've actually, just today, been looking at some of the extra attributes that might work with the new Links system. Perhaps it'll be best to make a new section and hope that it will get more and more added to it.
as ever, mods/admins/users that have anything to add, please do feel free to chip in.

with "official" i meant the Wowhead help, not Blizzards, just to clarify. ;)
No, I meant it's in the "Wowhead Feedback" forum because it's Wowhead-specific. It doesn't really belong in "WoW Help" because of that.

Thank you so much for all this. Whenever I go to post on the WoW forums I feel as if I'm back to scratching messages in the dirt with a stick.

With Server=True:
Without Server=True:
Obviously, there's some form of discrepancy that server=true invokes. Change your systems time and notice that server=true changes.
Okay, changing my system's timezone by itself did nothing, but I changed my iPad's timezone from US EDT to Swedish time, and the one without the server attribute stays the same and accurate and the one with the server attribute changes to be 7 hours, 2min short, as opposed to the 1 hour difference I see in my home timezone.

So, the Time Server is set to GMT-5?
