Twink filter?...It's called a guild. :P
I leveled my first toon practically never pugging. I created a guild and we learned and leveled together.
LFD is like a pick up basketball game...Don't shout out "I'll play" and then walk onto the court wearing flip flops and proceed to shoot the ball over the backboard every time and expect a positive response. :)
You also don't find college players playing pickup with the local junior high kids and telling them they suck when they can't keep up.
What?
Sorry but that analogy doesn't make any sense. If you select random dungeon finder then your saying you can do that dungeon selected..otherwise don't walk in there and expect everyone else to be amused with wiping. I've been on many a run where a person was making an honest attempt but struggling to complete a dungeon. Those kind of players I support and encourage to see it through to the end. It's very rewarding to get them there. But other times you run into just plain smucks..who think your time is their time. I won't verbally blast anyone..I'll simply leave.
As for the pick up game...If the junior high school kids were dumb enough to get into a pickup game with college players ...they wouldn't have to be told they suck..the score would tell them that. Just like a guild..exclude college players...form your own JH teams and have fun.

Is this really how everyone is? I love leveling and trying new classes. But am I truely the minority?
no, not everyone is like that. i always keep an alt on the back-burner. my shaman was in grizzly hills until 78... why? because i had always skipped that zone and i wanted to do every quest and get to know the area. you bet i had all heirlooms, including my pirate ring (arrrrr! i'm a pirate) - after all, it is a long way to 80... i'll take the bonus. i especially like that the items upgrade as i level up (no need to check AH every 2 levels).

I'm talking about experienced players running low level instances and assuming that everyone else in the LFD queue are also experienced players leveling their alts. They can't seem to comprehend that there may actually be players running this content for the first time and are still learning the game. If you're doing higher level dungeons, yes you should be able to assume that the people you're running with have a clue as to how their class in a dungeon, but I've seen this stuff going on in places like WC and SFK.
Although judging by your comments, you seem to believe the LFD system was put in just for the experienced players to find groups.
To adapt your analogy further: It would be like a junior high student getting into a game that he
thought
was with other junior high students, when in fact the other team is a team of professional "little person" ball players.

No..not at all...I'm addressing the OP comments. Unless your apart of the run every post about an experience on a run can be slanted. He got annoyed that someone on the run belittled his gear. Do we real know what was actually going on..not really. We can surmise by the comments of the other 2 players that he was under performing to say the least. My comment was in effect stating "why would you be surprised by that"..the majority of us want to succeed no matter what the level is. It's the nature of the game.
As for the only for experience player comments...lets bring this into real life. You drive? have a license? would you blissfully be happy having to get to where you want to go at five miles an hour because someone learning to drive in a drivers ed car is in front of you? Obvious answer is "no...Get off the main road and learn to drive somewhere quiet I need to get somewhere" All I'm saying is the place to learn new dungeons is in a guild setting at a leisurely pace...LFD is the fast lane..come prepared to drive.

Many people get into the race to 80. However from what I've seen, far more enjoy the leveling and don't rush it. The reason why you hear so much more from the racers? Open mouth and turn off brain. Usually they're loud mouthed phools who can't bear the thought that someone is doing it another way. In their view anyone not doing it their way makes their way wrong. So they work hard to tear down the alternative view, in order to justify their own view. Meanwhile, the rest of us are enjoying the
game
as entertainment and doing our best to ignore the racers.
Really?
Which is absolutely fine, and
I'd never, ever ask Blizzard to scrap the leveling process or stop devoting dev time to it, because a lot of people like it and I have no problem with people doing things that they like in this game.
Trust me. The people who powerlevel because they want to get a new toon into progression raiding as fast as possible really, really,
really
don't care 'that someone is doing it another way' when that means 'spending more time than necessary leveling.' They're pretty much as uninterested in that segment of the player base as they can be, so your bizarre and uninformed accusation that these people spend a lot of time twisting themselves into knots convincing others to do what they do makes no sense.

First, the OP got annoyed that a DPS Pally was running with Righteous Fury up just to be an *!@#$%^. When the OP called him on it, the #$%^&*! insulted the OP's gear and playstyle and dropped. Then the other two elitist &*!@#$%s in the party dropped as well.
Secondly, the LFD system is a one-lane road that everyone can use. My suggestion is to add a slow lane to that road. Your suggestion is that anyone who doesn't have a McLaren F1 can just walk.
Is that about it?
(captcha:
the rampaging
)
You seem mad at something...not sure what it is
Were you apart of that run by any chance...? Yet you call 3 of the players elitist. Right of course..they wanted the run to fail..that has to be it. Not possible the OP(tank) was in there with poor gear and acting goofy pissing off people and the pally decided to tank it himself? The fact that all three mentioned he should get heirloom gears can translate into having no gear. Can I make those same assumption..yep..would they be any better then yours...nope.
The thread title "is this the majority?" Majority what! Rude and pushy?..that pally might label a different thread with the same title..talking about...undergeared...poor knowledge class players wasting peoples time in dungeons.
Does the game have it elitist pricks ..yep..does it have it's complete goof balls too..YES!
If I accept a pug to do ICC..I better know what I'm doing and so should everyone else. Nothing slows down runs and is more annoying then having to explain fights..the info is all over the internet..go read up before accepting. LFD is just another pug mechanism. Is it nice to find helpful patient people..sure..do we have a right to slam people who want to get the job done quickly..no.You want to learn a dungeon, do on your own time or gather your own group in trade chat. Blizz created LFD so players wouldn't have to wait around on their own server spamming trade for healers/tanks/dps. Nothing else is inferred. You want to create a second LFD for accounts without an 80, so new players can learn together...knock yourself out..I'm all for it.

The majority of players view the "start" of the game at max level. That's when you get past the mind numbing leveling process and can actually get some stuff done. Be it BG's, Arenas, 5 mans, or Raids. Especially for folks with X alts, we've "been there done that" part of the game and do no wish it experience it for the 10th time around.
I've ten horde toons on my primary server, all are 72-79. Not a single one of them is 80, obviously none of them wear heirlooms.
So to me you haven't even started this game yet. What are you waiting for I might ask? Are you afraid to experience the actual content of the game at max level? Are you afraid to be pit up against folks the same level as you? There's obviously a reason you have 10 toons, none at max level. I can't believe you actually enjoy the horde leveling experience 10 times, I mean after the 2nd time doesn't it get dull?

All of those things, save Arena, can be done before reaching 80.

I can't believe you actually enjoy running the same raid over and over again, a hundred times. I mean, after the first full clear doesn't it get a little dull?*
*The above is really just to illustrate a point. I raid every week because I enjoy it; I'm also leveling my fourth character completely sans heirlooms, so that I can enjoy the old world quests one last time before Cataclysm. Your disbelief doesn't invalidate the entertainment others receive from leveling. To think that it does is simply arrogant.

That's asinine to expect newbies to move out of the way for veteran players. Asinine, selfish, and since we were all newbs at one point, hypocritical. I'd expect the veterans to step down and help the newbies, but I guess that's just too hard isn't it? You're too wrapped up in getting frosties or getting that alt to 80, or getting that timbermaw rep that you just can't consider that guy who just bought the game a week ago (yes, there are people who just bought the game, it is still selling in stores) who might need some help.
There is no reason whatsoever to expect new players to submissively pass on the LFD system just so you can power run your next alt.
This is what I hate about this games community. Everyone here is so damn selfish, its all me, me, me. THIS IS A SOCIAL GAME. If you want me, me, me, go play a single player. Every person who isn't helped along the way, turns into "that guy" who wipes your raids at 80. Think about that for a moment.
LFD was formed to eliminate time sitting around in Org, spamming for a tank, not for the sudden rush through instances that it turned into.
Nothing slows down runs and is more annoying then having to explain fights..the info is all over the internet..go read up before accepting.
Pfft, there isn't a non-raid boss in this game that can't be zerged with the addition of "stay out of the bad stuff"
Ok..this isn't going anywhere...you seem to be reading everything I'm saying through rose colored glasses. I'm saying helpfulness is a charitable act and accept it with grace when it comes and don't complain when it doesn't...you seem to demand it.
I've had people like you in my guild before. They log on and expect the whole server to stop what they are doing and service them. They want to be given everything and gripe when they aren't. Start paying everyone's 15 bucks a month and then call for room service otherwise who the frick are you to tell anyone they have to help you with anything instead of doing their own thing.
Yes we were all newbies and today's newbies can't have it any easier and still you complain.
There's the newbie who asked you where the best place to level and there's the noob who begs for gold because he is too lazy to go complete a couple of quest. I assist the first one and dismiss the later.
Selfish...lol..my guild is known as one of the most charitable and helpful guilds on the server. I've had people with me for over 2 years and we are just a casual guild but we do have a great sense of community and that's the point I've been trying to make, which you don't seem to understand, a guild is where you look for assistance to foster and build upon improving oneself in this game.
Using LFD and expecting random people from other servers to cater to your individual requirements..well..using your own words that's asinine.
So I'll leave you and hope that blizz creates for your utopia server called Shangri-la where everyone is blissfully kind..I'll be the first to throw you a gold piece when you come begging. Peace..I'm done with this thread.

To each their own I guess. I enjoy progression raiding, trying to tackle the next harder boss. I was merely pointing out that UrCure's perspective on enjoying leveling is missing that post-80 experience. Why is he avoiding post-80 gameplay, maybe he'll end up liking it. You can't knock it if you don't try it, and I've done the leveling thing way too much.
