Some players are just drawn to the warband, broken nature of the Horde, whereas others prefer the valiant, democratic nature of the Alliance.
Have you ever read anything about the Peloponnesian War -- the war between the Athenians and the Spartans that took place after the events in that awful, terrible movie
300
?
The Athenian leader Pericles gave a sanctimonious speech that basically boiled down to "We're so great because we're a democracy that we totally have the right to oppress our Greek brethren and tell then what to do!" The Spartans responded by saying "Even though we're violent and vicious (and depend on slaves), our absolute commitment to freedom (for the rich and privileged) and honor compels us to stop you."
That's what I think of whenever I hear someone say "For the Alliance!"/"For the Horde!"
Woah woah, Greek History Lesson time.
After the end of Persian War, Athens created something called the Delian League. The Delian League's intended purpose was to continue fighting the Persians after the end of the war. Athens provided the majority of the actual equipment and labor, because they had the ability to do so, and they extracted tribute from the other members for their membership.
But, the interesting thing was to come. During and after the war, Athens began to develop a new view on democracy (and there's a reason Athenian Democracy is completely dissimilar from any modern form, partially because the concept was in flux.) Athenians began to think that democracy was equivalent to having a big navy. No joke. I've had upper level history classes on Greece where we've spent a week talking about this. Because Athenians equated the size of their navy with their democracy, they became more controlling of the city-states of the League to keep it rolling. The Athenians even began to force non-member states into either colonies or members of the League.
Well, Sparta got mad that Athens was exerting all of this control when they weren't, and other city-states wanted to join together so they wouldn't get ransacked.
But yeah, it's not as cut and dry as democracy v oligarchy in that war. The speech is nice, but its not the same as what was happening.

Horde:
Orcs : noble race from Draenor came to Azeroth trough the dark portal then after being enslaved and blood enslaved they regained their nobility and now reside in the middle of the desert
Trolls : probably the oldest race on Azeroth they found their destiny alongside the horde who didn't call them long tusk 3 finger freaks
Tauren : probably more conserving than night elf's
