But, the issue remains that:
A) You shouldn't HAVE to "take about 5 minutes on google" to play the game.
B) The game itself tells you NOTHING of the sort about this information, it's all people who crunch numbers to min-max every tiny little thing about WoW.

A) You shouldn't HAVE to raid end game.
B) The game itself tells you nothing of raids. There is no breadcrumb quest that tells you to go to Naxx. There is no dialogue that directs you toward heroic farming to gear up. This game is incredibly ambiguous, if you want to play it end-game you are going to have to put in some research time.
Out of 12 million people playing this game, only tens of thousands actually raid. Even fewer kill every boss in the instance. Fewer yet delve into hard modes. Even fewer "beat" the game by killing every boss on hard mode. Regardless of which demographic you want to be in, some research is required. Whether or not this is good game design is irrelevant; the amount of effort you put into raiding will determine your success.

im not trying to be mean here... but i honestly think people like obiwan should get their own server where everyone can be happy and carefree and wear whatever gear they want and dps however they want and its all yayyy happy!
then other servers for people who actually want to play
im sure this has been suggested before but i really think it would be great
people like obiwan hate people like me and vice versa... separate us plz...kthx
edit: just wanted to add in... most of this stuff people need to "research" is common effin sense.... 90 percent of the stuff about warlocks end game i already figured out just by playing my toon... the finer things (gemming, hit cap, BiS lists) took me a few mins to look up (not hard)

Riddle me this: what's bad about going to third party sites like Wowhead or EJ? Why should a game not have challenging endgame play?
I never said it was
bad
to go to third party sites, I said the average player DOESN'T KNOW THEY EXIST. Really, you people are saying "its common sense to research" when really it isn't. If someone doesn't say "Hey, hit up EJ and check your gear/spec/rotation" then the average player isn't going to think to themselves "Hey, I should Google the best spec for my class".
It's just like in D&D, which I played for many years. The min-maxers would research all the loopholes and power combos to eke out every little bit of performance, while the average people wouldn't care and choose things they thought were cool, without knowing that it was "bad" to do it. Their performance suffered as a result. Now, obviously in D&D this isn't as bad as WoW since D&D has a human playing all the bosses and mobs, but it's the same principle.
We
know you should research your stuff to perform better. But a newbie or average person who doesn't spend a lot of time researching isn't going to know that, and instead of being offered advice they'll get laughed at and called a "baddie" for pulling X DPS with Y gear, because nobody ever bothered to tell them to research stuff, and they probably never knew that you SHOULD do it.
Is that such a hard concept to grasp?

My point was that the average player has no idea there are sites like this with lots of resources to help improve their class, and the typical WoW player is more willing to point and laugh at "baddies" instead of actually trying to talk to them. Yes, you will occasionally (mostly?) get some dumbass who says "STFU I know how to play", but a lot of times I've helped someone out only to get a "Thanks, I didn't know that" type of answer.
The other day I was talking to a friend in an ICC pug and there was a... I forget, Warlock or something that was horribly bad. Missing talent points, specced into Affliction but casting Shadow Bolt repeatedly.. I don't remember the details, but it was bad. He was laughing about this on Vent, and I basically told him to stop being a jackass and whisper the person and suggest some resources to help them out.
This game would be a lot better if folks were more willing to actually HELP people who clearly need it (and then ignore them if they turn out to be clueless AND arrogant), instead of just going "I spent 30 minutes before I hit 80 researching my class, anyone who doesn't is a scrub" or laughing to their friends about how bad somebody is. That person might be honestly new to the game and not know any better. I know for a fact when I started playing I didn't know half of the stuff that I do now; I only knew to research it because I came from playing tabletop D&D and was an optimizer so I knew to use google to find builds/equipment from that.
