This twist with Sylvanas makes me sad. But I'm not gonna try and defend her when Blizzard itself has decided that she's pure evil now. But, you see...people
are
defending her actions here.
Sylvanas just wants people to be loyal to
the horde
her whims.
Even
Especially if it means making them a slave to a curse. This is what it's beginning to look more and more like.

Koltira and Thassarian are parts of the Horde and the Alliance now rather than the Ebon Blade. At least they say so during the quest if I recall correctly...It seemed to me more like they were Ebon Blade "attachés" to those respective factions, as it were. Either way Koltira's ingame faction is The Undercity now. Not sure how it happened. :SOkay, now,
that's
bizarre.
ETA: Wowhead says Warsong Offensive.
So I went and took a screenie... ;-)

It also lists him as an 85 elite. They've changed it between the current game and the beta—probably for the express purpose of putting him under Sylvanas's control and giving her actions some (flimsy) semblance of legitimacy.

The whole event described in the thread actually never happened when I did these quests by the way... :S Got a Val'kyr to play around with on some farmers but nothing after that. Are there any pics of the event?

I said this earlier and I'm going to say it again.
No matter what faction Koltira actually belongs to, the fact remains that he is in a position of authority over Forsaken troops. This means that someone who has the power to put him in that position has done so, and it also means that he answers to that person. If he fails at doing his appointed task, then it's his commander's
duty
to put him in place.
And again, one might question the methods the Forsaken (and with that, Sylvanas) use, but that is besides the point.So...what do you think should have happened to Gorgonna when she gave herself a much-merited "Klingon promotion?" The situations are fairly parallel.

EDIT: To further prove my point, I'm going to draw an analogy. Let's say you're the boss of a company. You find out that one of your workers are handling his job poorly. What do you do? Let him continue on like normal? Or have a serious talk with him? That's not an appropriate analogy, as Koltira's competence is not in question. A better one would be one of these cases in which a soldier is ordered to do something immoral or unethical, and gets in trouble for sticking to his principles.

Since when did Koltira find anything immoral or unethical? He's a Death Knight. I'm pretty sure those qualms are far behind him.
From the video it seems they backed out of the fight simply because they did not want to be involved. Of course he's going to be punished if he was assigned by a superior to do something and he explicitly didn't do it.
We might not agree with Sylvanas's methods, but come on. It
does
make sense.

Koltira and Thassarian made a pact to withdraw their armies after they beat the Scourge in there, didn't they? The forsaken have killed their own over more minor things, like making the wrong potion... :-P

i still dont think the ebon blade will take this kind of thing lying down, while he is acting commander of forsaken forces he is still a deathknight.
Koltira joined the Horde at the same time as the player did I believe, so I'm not sure if the Ebon Blade have any sort of authority over him anymore...
Personally, I wouldn't mind if she made abominations out of him considering he's been about as interesting as Lor'themar, unlike Thassarian. :-(

i still dont think the ebon blade will take this kind of thing lying down, while he is acting commander of forsaken forces he is still a deathknight.Indeed.
Koltira joined the Horde at the same time as the player did I believe, so I'm not sure if the Ebon Blade have any sort of authority over him anymore...From what I can tell, all of the death knights who broke free from the Scourge at Light's Hope
are
still associated with the Ebon Blade, at least by courtesy. (Much like even player-character druids are technically with the Cenarion Circle.)
Personally, I wouldn't mind if she made abominations out of him considering he's been about as interesting as Lor'themar, unlike Thassarian. :-(This is not about Koltira being a great guy; it's about Sylvanas losing any last vestiges of sympathetic-character status.
