they could of done that on Iwo jima but the soldiers decided to cimmited suicide anyway.
You have to remember this is a very diffrent culture
Can you not read?
Apparently not.
A country surrendering to end a war =/= soldiers surrendering in order to save their own asses.
In other words, stop making the comparison between the two.

I fail to see what you mean:
Country gives orders to commit mass suicide
Soldiers follow the order and commit mass suicide on their own accord
(gtg now btw)
Way to completely forget your own point...

I don't see that happening.
If I remember correctly it was the Emperor who gave the order to surrender after he saw what was going on (He was kept in the dark).
Thus, no mass suicide order.

i)japaneese had around 10 million armed troops left.
Source.
I sourced 5 million already. So don't come in here stating 10 million is a fact.
To the rest, it's all assumptions. If you kill people on assumptions, you've got issues.

I'm failing to see why an invasion of Japan was 'necessary'. Isn't it enough to slaughter their military forces elsewhere, without causing civilian casualties?

It wasn't. I brought that up in the previous debate and got no responses.

Perhaps because it would have just been island hopping for a long time? (I heard somewhere that Japan asked to surrender, if that is true, well...)
