An open letter to Blizzard

And FYI, Blizzard does communicate to their customers. If you can't agree with that, we have nothing to talk about.
They don't have the best communication, actually. During the extended maintenance on Tuesday, my last update showed that they were planning on updating again at 5:00 PM PDT. This was around a half-hour before my server was available, at approximately 5:30 PM PDT.
It should have been a moment's work to have put up an update that they are closing in on resolving the problem, and plan on having the servers up within the next hour, but they didn't.
Blizzard does a good job in communicating with their customers on some issues; in others, I feel they could step up a bit.
At 5pm, I noticed servers going up. My server went up around 530, also. I'm sorry you couldn't put two and two together that one batch of servers going up means that your server will be up shortly.
They gave hourly updates from when the servers should have been up at 11am.
Sure, they could have put something up at like 5:30pm to tell everyone that the servers are up, but I think most people would be smart enough to know that they can log in the game without someone telling them they can.
Also, this is not a mom and pop operation where joe and bob can just update a message sent out to everybody's log in screen. If you ever worked for a large corporation, you will have to understand that things need to be approved, especially when communicating on a large-scale basis.
Telling us that we will have an update at 5pm and then having servers going up from 5pm to 5:30pm is excellent communication.

I'm pretty sure that the message box off to the left of the screen explains maintenance pretty clearly, BEFORE it happens. Yes, extended maintenance does tend to happen on patch day, but with a game experiencing such a large player base/hacking attempts, it is not surprising.
Common sense, my friend.

I'm quite aware of the bureaucracy and red tape involved in large corporations. I work for an international technology company, with around 40k people employed in the United States alone.
Despite the fact that I work for a such a company, we happen to believe that when you tell people that you are going to update them at a particular time, they expect an update at a particular time.
An update of, "Servers are coming back up at this time, and are expected to be up by X," would have been appropriate.
Oh, and nice ad hominem. It definitely strengthened your argument.

Dirp dirp, you know why it was deleted so stop crying about it!
No, I don't know why.
The only thing I can figure is that they have a posting filter with "wowhead" included
. The post was deleted within 30 seconds of my pressing Submit. That's much too fast for human intervention given the amount of posting being done with the extended downtime.
Your tinfoil hat is showing...
On a serious note, the reason your post was deleted was probably for two major reasons.
1. It's repetitive. Every Tuesday someone drafts some missive similar to what you wrote, but changing words here and there. But it is all the same: a somewhat cleverly disguised "HOLY CRAP WHY IS THERE MAINTENANCE AND WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME?" After 5 years of people doing the same thing on a weekly basis, Blizzard has taken the step of summarily deleting those threads.
2. Look at the tone of discussion here in this thread. No matter your motivations, look at the direction this thread took. It is troll-baiting and flame-baiting thread. Blizzard does not want that in their forums, either. And it would have been significantly worse on the Official Forums than what you have found here.
And here's the kicker: It is their game, so we play by their rules.
Don't like the rules, don't play the game.
Like I said 2 days ago, you know why it was deleted, you've already confirmed why a few posts ag. So carrying on doesn't make a lick of sense, except for enabling you to be flamed furthermore. Good day to you sir.

This OP last post was right when the servers were going back up.
So, did he (a) quit because of how Blizzard treats their customers or (b) been playing this game and will only come back and post something about how crappy Blizzard is when he can't play for a few hours?
HMMMMM?

Do you folks read your memos the way you read the OP's forum post? How is it possible you retain employment? So many of you rushed to judgement without understanding a damn sentence he typed. Slow down, web ninjas, and read BEFORE attacking people.
Why is it so terrible to ask Blizz to improve their communication? Next time servers are down- click the link they provide. Just click it. They do not mention, anywhere, Tuesday Maintenance. Why was it a heinous crime against humanity asking them to fix this? If typing a few sentences about Tuesday could save that crazy .5% of the population that doesn't close the client a TON of time and frustration- Why not do it? I know .5% is just a guess, but .5% of 11,000,000 is still 55,000 people. If just 10% of them call technical support- it's a tremendous cost and burden on their call centers. Certainly, it's worth paying somebody with the most BASIC experience to add an entry to the troubleshooting page entitled "
Is it Tuesday? Our bad.
"
Flaming somebody for trying to improve the game you fanatically defend is shortsighted and ignorant. I'm shocked how many people posting here fit that description. Why WOULD the OP post back? Would you? If you didn't get his point after his many
CLEAR
posts- Why should he bother?
Now, for the moment of truth-- and wh I bothered.
The answer to the original question
. The answer nobody provided:
Using the words Blizzard, Blue, or any community team members name in a thread topic is frowned on. Everyone would like Blizzard to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that. However, use of such words in the topic does not help that come to pass. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject.
It was likely automatic. The topic was "An Open Letter To Blizzard." It was deleted because the OP didn't take time to read the "Welcome: Please Read." at the top of the forum.
In the future, place such topics in the suggestions forum- or email it. Make it a "closed letter" to Blizzard instead.

Certainly, it's worth paying somebody with the most BASIC experience to add an entry to the troubleshooting page entitled "Is it Tuesday? Our bad."
Because it's not always.
Because the number of people (0.5% by your estimation) are significantly outweighed by those who can't log in for reasons not to do with Blizzard's maintenance period.
Because those people who have problems due to it being maintenance will only have that problem ONCE in their playing life.
Because, realistically speaking, the people who are going to call up your tech support because they can't be bothered resetting their WoW client to see what's wrong aren't the sorts of people you want in your subscriber base anyway, since they'll continue to cause you problems through their playing life.
