This is probably your issue:
Memory Size 1024 MB
Memory Type GDDR5
Up it about 2000-3000 MB (3-4Gs)and you'll probably run smoother.
I'd probably invest in a better video card too.

I think you misread that. He has 4GB of RAM in the PC, the video card is running 1GB of GDDR5 memory.
For the OP:
it would help to know which of the 4800 series cards you have but even for a low end card you should be getting higher FPS given the rest of the hardware.
What video settings are you running at? Have you tried lowering the video effect settings?
Have you tried any other games? Have you tried any video benchmarks to see what your card is capable of?

Oh yes I read it wrong. I scanned his info too quick lol!
Yeah, he should be getting a higher FPS with what he's got.
Only thing I can think of now is that he has everything on high settings with a lot of Addons running at the same time along with background applications.

the card is 4890 ati.
all of my setting on the game are custum. no shadows, no ground cluter or radius, view distance is half, enviornment distance is less than half, and 2 other things (dont know the names) are down to half.
i have tried to download halo for the pc but i never even got a popup. i have tried runes of magic before and i had the same issue as i do with WoW. i tried downloading some kinda of free mmo fps game from gamespy but it stopped installing 3/4ths the way done.
i have no idea what a video benchmark is
hmm..
When did this start happening or was it always an issue?

When you run WOW hit Cntrl/Alt/Del - Task Manager and hit the Process Tab. Sort by CPU usuage and find out what's hogging it all up because honestly you shouldn't be running that low fps on ur rig.
Maybe your card just hit rock bottom who knows? I guess start troubleshooting but first find about your resources first..

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but are your video card drivers up to date? If they are not that could be why they are so low. If you need help were to find them go to your graphics card's website. (

this has always been an issue. even when i first got this gaming pc, my frames would appear to stay at 100 for a min or two but then BAM straight down to 5 - 10.
Does this happen in any other games?
Because this sounds an awful lot like either the CPU or the GPU core overheating and then auto-downclocking to compensate.
