/sigh at all the people talking about trading in end-game gear for heirlooms.
First, Sunwell gear lasted (mostly) through Naxx-25. Second, heirlooms weren't implemented until about halfway through this expansion. Third, in order to make progressing through current content trivial, you have to have experienced it once already (heirlooms only available at 80, CWF only available that 77 unless you have an 80, etc).
I don't think they are going to implement any form of +XP buff for Cataclysm launch, and even if they did, you would likely need lvl 85 currency to get. You also probably wouldn't get it for T10 geared alts, but alts that either didn't hit 80 before Cata or alts that didn't raid in Wrath.
Is 68 Spirit and 10% more XP worth giving up:
- 71 Int
- 71 Sta
- 92 Crit
- 108 Haste
- 91 Spell Power
- 2 Sockets
Yes, the gear might change a little but it still boils down to
comparing a ilvl 187 equivalent to an ilvl 264.
And sockets scale amazingly well.
Epic BC Spell Power Gem:
+12 sp
Uncommon Wrath Spell Power Gem:
+14 or
+16 sp
Edit:
Now for low level toons, by far I am sure that no armor I EVER ran accross was better than my heirlooms. However when you hit 60, or 70 (or 80) and find a sweet epic chest or shoulder, it would be nice to have the option at least to use it for awhile.
Level 60 epics are replaced quickly in Outland.
Level 70 epics can be replaced somewhat quickly in Northrend (depending on which tier they are).
Level 80 epic will likely be replaced somewhat quickly in New Old Azeroth (again depending on which tier they are).
So your saying that if you spend the time farming obsolete raids for easily replaced epics you should be able to make up for the lost time you could have just leveled?
