Gearscore addition = bugged?

So I just upgraded from Marrowstrike recently to the Quel'Delar sword on my hunter.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Azjol-Nerub&cn=Feyara
Marrowstrike shows a GS of 730, while the Quel'Delar is 914, so I was expecting a nice bump in my total GS when I equipped it.
Well, that didn't happen. In fact, GS only bumped my total by about 30 points.
The add-on shows me as having a total GS of 4969 right now, but when I manually add up all the ratings on my gear, the total is almost 5100 (as it should be).
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks.

Hunter's get a lower score for Stat Sticks.
While getting a higher score for ranged weapons.

Could you please explain what "Stat Sticks" means?

2H(Preferably-higher stats) Melee weapon that we use for higher stats. Because we almost NEVER melee.

I find the same thing on my hunter. GS gives a general score, and a hunter score.
Hunters never use their hand weapons to hit things, so the items (2 x 1 hand or 1 x 2 hand) are only good for the stats on the items.

Same for bows on Rogues/Warriors
Smart Rogues use a nice Thrown weapon, for Deadly Throwing a running mob, or PvP. Also in Cata, FoK will work off Thrown. I don't think Warrior's have any reason to use certain ranged weapons, though...
Old-school ranged pulling prior to getting Heroic Throw comes to mind.

Yes, Gearscore is bugged.
People seem to believe it's useful, which is a bug.

Why doesn't someone (the author / someone who knows how) fix it then?
I have seen complaints to kingdom come, but no one does anything about it.
They say
this
site has a more accurate rating of gear... then why not change the addon to be this accurate?
At the end of the day, even if they do this, after about 2 months people would just whine again. (see quote)

The author is cba about it, as the addon "works" why fix it? And if you want to count for enchants, gems, stats for the user, you'd have to take much more into account.

Meh... ok. Well I guess then we are stuck with this one until someone else feels bored enough to write a fix. :P

That is true... how does wow-heroes do it then? I would love to see the code behind that. :)

Correct. The author has also written a web-based version of his ingame addon that works off of the armory:
