Cho'gall is the leader of the twilight hammer, and they've been obsessed with the old gods since it formed. It stands to reason it would be an old god.
Maybe what he's doing is trying to grow a new old god, and we discover his efforts.
Either that or we discover evidense that varian and garrosh are the sons of Cho'galls missing wife and a badger.

Hey look, I was right; a new Twilight threat, which makes sense, as the Batol was where he was storing most of the eggs outside of the Sanctum. Also, there has never been a reference to the Old Gods in Grim Batol anyways.

Oh, look giant purple dragon eggs. In a place where both Black Dragonflight and Old Gods followers dwell. Some weird experiment of having those eggs being affected by the Old Gods' corruption?

Well, the never did specify just what it was that Modgud conjured up in there, but it was nasty enough to mutate the remaining Dark Irons into the Skardyn.
Her hubby was able to conjure a major servant of the Old Gods, and we all know how the Elder Ones
loooove
mutating things.
At this point, I'd be highly surprised if there
wasn't
O.G. influence there.
Eh, might be spill over stuff; if there was an Old God there, I can't see Deathwing making it his base as he still has his hatred of them.

So he was breed a new species of dragon that is part twilight dragon, part old god?
Looking at the massive size of the eggs there obviously not your common dragon egg..
The reason question is, what is big enough to lay an egg the size of a house...

The reason question is, what is big enough to lay an egg the size of a house...A magically infused egg.... just like the other experiment eggs that Deathwing has always made.
