No one has ever had their WoW account hacked. Thousands of people have had their accounts
compromised
though, and that is specifically why there are threads stickied at the top of this forum...

*sigh*
As per dozens of these types of threads and stickies, call Blizzard. You'll get your stuff back and this thread would have been another unnecessary one.

I see you're new, and that's specifically why I deleted my scathing post that sat in the place of this one for a couple minutes.
Use the threads that have been "stickied;" that is, they have been pinned to the top of the forum to prevent them from slipping to the bottom or to other pages. They're pinned there because they're important. One thread tells you how to recover your account, another tells you how to keep your account information safe, and another helps you get the most performance possible out of your computer.

Nope. Never been "hacked" because I'm smart enough to keep my computer and account safe. I've been playing since launch and have never
given my account away
gotten "hacked".

Yes, because everyone who has had their accounts compromised has done so willingly through their blatant ignorance. There are SOME people out there that do everything short of using an authenticator and still get hacked. Just because you haven't lost your account doesn't mean it can't happen. And please don't imply that people who have lost theirs are stupid, that's unecessary.
Right, because account thieves just make up information and steal accounts that way.
/sarcasm off
If you lose access to your account, then you failed. Somehow, somewhere, you failed (or your parents failed if you're still a minor). Just because someone victimized you does not change the fact that you failed to protect your account information. You're not deserving of sympathy just because you believe you did everything you could. The information you need to help protect yourself is out there; spend some time looking for it if you value not having your WoW account (or even your identity) stolen.
You had to prove you were competent enough to operate a motor vehicle right? Why should it be any different with the Internet? Unfortunately the Internet provides us with the perfect tool for destroying ourselves but it doesn't come with one of those instruction books that is made up of 25 pages of warnings (as it should).

If you still get your account compromised, then you:
Got a keylogger - your fault..
Shared your account info - your fault.
Got some other virus - your fault.
Responded to a phishing email - your fault. (P.S., If you send me $1000, I can unlock $1 million and share it with you)
The bottom line is unless a hacker literally forces their way in to your account or Blizzard's database to steal your account, it was your fault, whether or not you were aware of it. Just because you don't know how it happened doesn't make it not your fault, it just makes you unaware.
