The trip was long. So many of us had come with the caravan. From over all the corners of the Horde, these Orcs, along with myself had come to Orgrimmar. We were going to become soldiers. The sun was beginning to set, casting a dull orange glow over the buildings nearby. I, and many others sat, tired from walking for what seemed like an eternity.
"Fall in, you worthless swine!"
I was startled by the voice, calling out at us with an almost furious roar. I jumped to my feet and quickly went to attention. The Overlord had a look of disgust on his face.
"All of you are pathetic. Whelps- wet behind the ears! Not a single one of you is good enough to hold a blade for your people!" He paced down the line of recruits until he reached one of the men near me. He stopped and looked him up and down then shook his head and kept pacing.
"I beg and I plead for the Warchief to send me an Orc of value; someone that hasn't been farming pigs in some backwater corner of the Horde for the whole of their weak life!" He spat on the ground aside from the line. "But continuously, he sends me you weak excuses for warriors!"
Quickly, he stopped and looked at another man. Staring furiously into his eyes, he yelled in the face of the Orc. "You! Give me your name, maggot!"
The Orc, startled, stuttered slightly, "O-Or-"
The Overlord's voice grew angrier, and louder. "Speak, you stupid sack of bile! I said I want your name!"
The Orc gathered himself and spoke quickly, "Orbak, Sir!"
The Overlord's temper seemed to be boiling, "'Sir?' My rank is Overlord, maggot! You weaklings do not get the privilege to call me 'Sir'!" He began to walk away from the Orc, to face the whole of the line, his anger seeming to subside. "You have been brought to me, for training! I will see to it that I do not fail in my duty. Each and every one of you is nothing! I will see to it that by the time you are finished here, you will be among the strongest, most effective soldiers in the world! Then! Then, you will have earned the privilege of calling me 'Sir'."
He looked at us, each one of us in the eyes. "Fall out! Training starts at sunrise!"
We saluted, beating our fists upon our hearts, and raising them in respect. He did not salute back, we had not yet earned that.

Just a little idea I had, not sure if I'll do anything with it yet.
Enjoy :D

I like it. Seems very Orcish. Have you ever read a series called Cherub? He reminds me of Mr. Large.

Thanks, that's what I was going for, a really Orcish feel. And no I haven't Cherub. I seem to unintentionally remind people of other characters often :P.
I like it! The Overlord was quite intresting to listen to. I demand more Overlord.
Heh, maybe. Still not sure if I'll expand this.

Liked it, but I have a question. How are the recruits supposed to address the Overlord, if not 'sir'?

Honestly, I hadn't thought of an exact timeline for it. Current? :P

Two things : "All corners of the Horde" doesn't sound good to me. I'd say "All corners of Durotar" or "Kalimdor" before "the Horde" since we're talking about an exclusively orcish group. After all, the Horde isn't a land, it's a faction.
Second thing : God I <3 Overlord Runthak.
I was using "All corners of the Horde" in the same sense as "All corners of the Roman Empire". The Roman Empire wasn't a single country, but the expanse of the land it covered was described in the same way.
Also, not all orcs are from Durotar or Kalimdor, so saying "All corners of the Horde" is really the only fitting thing I could think of.

I know, but the Horde doesn't carry the same weight as the Roman Empire. It doesn't have the same territorial meaning. Imagine if a high ranking human would say "All corners of the Alliance". It wouldn't sound right.
That depends on the listener. Personally, I think my choice of words fit quite well. The Horde may not carry the same weight to an outside observer, like you or me, but to an Orc within the Horde, it would definitely carry just as much weight, if not more. The same could be said for Humans and the Alliance.
