A yes, stereotypical prejudice. How lovely.
First of all, have you tried playing double bass as fast as them? I'm a drummer myself, and I'm telling you it's some crazy shizz.
And grunting (you call it "scream words nobody can comprehend) is not as easy as you might think either, it's a special kind of technique.
And finally, not all metal is about doing double bass as fast as possible and screaming your lungs out. The songs I posted earlier are an example of that (yes, it's considered metal as well).
Now I could go the same stereotypical route with dance music and say that it's just a pop song with a beat put over it (like they do with a lot of classic pop songs, the most recent being of Madonna iirc). But I won't because there's probably slightly more work involved that I don't know of.
Each person has its own taste in music, so please respect that. I like heavy metal, but anything heavier than
Lamb of God
, and I no longer like it.
Now we're WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off-topic, so let's get back on track shall we? That, or lock this thread.

Its obvious falkor is just an ignorant kid who cant agrue his way out of a paper bag.
You may not like the music they play, but you cant deny their talent.
I might not like your musical taste, foley, but I like you ^_^
My favorite drummers are Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Chris Adler from Lamb of God and
Gavin Harrison
of
Porcupine Tree
(even though Porcupine Tree is not really metal, but they've become heavier over the years, and favorite drummer is favorite drummer :D).

Hahahaha. That's all I can say to this... No use arguing.
I grew out of that screaming &*!@ when I was 19.
You cant play that ^&*! with a "nice" girl around.
Talk about killing the mood.
Mhm. Talk about "stereotypes". The world is bigger than your 'clubbing/drum-and-bass/techno' stuff, m0n. Accept that. Plus the thing about 'growing out of metal' is, simply put, just narrow minded. I wouldn't have expected that from you. But you wouldn't care anyway, I guess ^_^
Plus metal is too angry, and you all know the last thing need is angry music.
Yeah, right. Once again... See above.

1. its not a prejudice. i didnt come into it hating it...in fact there are rare songs i enjoy. but overall the genre is a flaming bag of &*!@.
2. i have lul. i can slam just as fast as them. granted not while working the rest of the drums, but the double bass is not impressive in and of itself
3. its called technical screaming. not grunting. it is a skill when you can do it w/o wrecking your vocal chords in 2mins...but that doesnt make it sound good, or enjoyable. i dont enjoy music where i cant understand the lyrics.
4. most is though. especially when you go in the sub genres of metal. the few i like dont involve stupid power chords, heading banging, spazzing out on drums, and words nobody understands.
5. lolo @ whoever said dimebag and whats his face were two of the most talented people. i didnt even know dimebag died, so that shows how popular he was, eh. just go bathe in the blood of the innocent and what not. just face it, most people dont like metal. people who said they've grown out of it have seen the light. most normal people dont enjoy it (i.e normal girls).
i like music across all genres from classical to screamo to death metal to country, rap rock alt rock, etc. pretty much anything under the sun. but from most genres i only like a few songs or artists and the rest is basically crap (ex. metal and screamo).

Contradicting yourself is win.
2. i have lul. i can slam just as fast as them.

...which means it takes skill. Tyvm.

You not enjoying it doesn't mean, again, that it doesn't take skill (which is what the discussion was about)
4. most is though. especially when you go in the sub genres of metal. the few i like dont involve stupid power chords,
heading banging
, spazzing out on drums, and words nobody understands.
Again, stereotypes ftw. I linked Lamb of God. Did you hear "spazzing out on drums"? I didn't. I heard a drummer that is technically strong and who can
control
his bass drum.
heading banging? o_O O_o GTFO
most of the metal genres do NOT use grunts/technical screams actually. I could name loads of sub genres where there are normal vocals, and only a few with technical sceams / grunts (i.e. death metal and black metal). But maybe you don't consider those subgenres as metal, who knows.
Stupid power chords? Metal without power chords is no metal afaik. That's just plain rock.
Besides, if you listen carefully, you can still understand what they're singing underneath those layers of grunts/screams. Not always, but sometimes.
i like music across all genres
from classical to screamo to death metal
to country, rap rock alt rock, etc.
Now this is just a plain lie. I won't waste any more words on that.

Right. Because you can do
THIS
.
o_O O_o GTFO
I dont see what I said as being narrow minded. Back in high school I used to listen to pantera, slayer, hatebreed, ect... We used to play that &*!@ loud as !@#$ at partys. I had a blast. In fact I still enjoy that music once in a while if im at a friends house and they're playin it . But im 27 now, I kinda grew out of that phase... and to be honest, the girls I hang out with HATE that music. So when I have a bunch of girls over after the bar, im not going to throw on some raining blood and start a mosh pit in my living room. No no, im gonna put something on that they can dance to!
Thats not narrow minded, nor is it stereotyping. Its how I like to party!
You didn't get the idea. I wasn't talking about what you are talking there. No biggie, wasn't expecting you to, oh Mr. 'mature 27 years old crusty one' ^_^

Hahahahahahahahahaha! Oh, man... You could use some treatment for your inflamed hemorrhoids. Who is going to take you seriously when you obviously have nothing but stereotypes and cliches in that head of yours?
I said I like girls dancing on my coffe table.
Metal has never provided that for me.
Getting it straight. I completely agree with you in this matter. Really. I also listen to other kinds of music, including trance/dance/techno/clubbing if that's what makes the girls tick. Totally. BUT. I was not talking about this particular situation of life ^_^ That's all. And besides, there are many many nice girls that start ticking from other kinds of music as well, including metal. It's all about knowing where to look for them ;) You can take my word on that. And this time I am not messing around.
