There will not be a patch today. I confirmed it with a GM a few minutes ago. But this GM was excited about it coming very soon. :D
EDIT: Sorry about the double posting. I reported myself to have the other removed. :(

Is there something big coming our way soon?
Any speculation as to what it is?
Ruby Sanctum will be in the next major patch, as will the
*gag*
RealID changes*. I think that the quests to retake Gnomeregan and the Echo Isles will be in there also.
*Note that I love the concept of RealID; being able to chat with people, regardless of the server/faction they're on, is awesome, and something that WoW has needed for a long time. However, the actual implementation - the fact that they have to know your account e-mail address in order to add you as a RealID friend, and the fact that the primary account-holder's real name is displayed to your friends, and to
their
friends, makes it unlikely that I will ever use it.

No problems, I fixed it for you - it was easily done, and didn't cause any trouble. :)

Might be nitpicking a bit here, but 3.3.5 isn't a major patch (in that case, it would be 3.4, 3.5 or something). It will however contain the Ruby Sanctum instance and the RealID
additions
(remember, no-one said you had to use it).
The Gnomeregan and Echo Isles quests is in the patch, but won't be enabled until later. This was pretty much just done, so that Blizzard wouldn't
have
to do another patch, but simply say "Alright, let's enable them now!".

Oh, I agree. And I won't be using it. I just find it rather ridiculous that Blizzard would commit such a security
faux pas
.
Sorry, end derail here.

Easier way to find out if there is a patch; just open the launcher and see if anything is downloading lol.

Fo'sho.
Although, it seems to me that in the last month or two, weekly maintenance has been biweekly maintenance.
But this GM was excited about it coming very soon.
When a Blizzard employee tells you "soon,"
this
is what they mean.

Heh aye to both points there, besides, the pre-patch stuff hasn't even started back ground downloading yet; till that happens, we know the patch is off and away.

I think the entire whining and gnashing of teeth over RealID would be fixed if A) people followed the directions with it and only used it with people that they actually knew in real life and B) Friends of Friends were on a first-name-only basis.

Or knock both of them out by associating a chosen "alias" with the account, which is what several other MMOs (City of Heroes, Champions Online, STO) have been doing for several years already.
Then there would be no reason whatsoever to worry about knowing the person in real life (which somewhat defeats the purpose of online social networking), and the security risk inherent in sharing your account log-in name would be removed.

Err... Isn't the whole point of social networking to network with the friends of your friends? I mean, mind you, the only social network I'm a part of is LinkedIn (as I really don't consider Twitter one), but... yeah.
Edit: And using Champions Online as a defense of any system is pretty rofl-worthy. That was such a wasted bit of potential. :|
