Has anyone else experienced a tank that...

... gets angry and leaves the group when the hunter doesn't pass on the dps trinket?
I was in a ToC5 normal the other day with my hunter. After getting all the triumph badge gear I decided to farm for the
Banner of Victory
. With a 5-10 minute queue I'd run it something like 4-5 times that day when it actually dropped. The druid tank then asked me to pass on it, saying it was the only thing he was after. Naturally I said no, remarking that it was also the only drop I was after. He then proceeded to beg, and then insult me when I still wouldn't give it to him. Finally he started ranting that I would have been waiting 30 minutes to get a group without him, and after that he left the group.
I'll admit, I was dumbstruck by this mind-boggling behaviour. I know some people would get angry at a tank for rolling on dps gear, and that they should queue as dps and take the queue-time if they want it. Personally I figure as long as tanks are the bottleneck in the dungeon finder, I don't mind if people queue as both dps and tank and roll on dps gear as well as tank gear (I'd be less inclined to agree with a dps rolling on tank gear that the tank needs), so I didn't mind him rolling on the trinket. However, to actually be expecting that the dps passes on dps gear... I just hope he's not as spoiled and pampered IRL as he seemed to be ingame.
Now I'm just wondering, has anyone else encountered something like this? Are there actually others out there spoiled enough to expect to get dibs on any loot they want as long as they're tanking? Or was this a blessedly lone example?

Some people tank to feel important. This feeling of being so important, translates to them having dibs on things. It's pretty clear he felt important when he mentioned, you'd have to wait 30 minutes without him.

Some players, be them Tanks, DPS, or marmosets, just act like spoiled rotten brats.
The way I look at it is that everyone has to Q up to run things, so if a piece of gear drops that you want/need, go for it. Unless it's a guild run and the item that drops is ear marked for someone, anything is fair game.
The tank may have wanted it for his Cat form because he loves DPS and only Tanks so he can Q faster, who knows. I think anyone who wants it should Need if they need it, and Greed/DE if they don't.
I've run instances where I don't get a single piece but I quit worrying about it. I play, and I think a good number of other players, because I love the game, not to goodies that drop.

So he'd rather drop group and wait 30 minutes as a deserter than roll against you on an item that might not even drop?
He's an idiot.
It's the regular version of the instance. He can requeue immediately after clearing it. If I were the tank, I'd say I was here for the DPS trinket only. One of three things will happen. 1) No one else is after it and I'll win. 2) Other DPS are after it too, but they need other things as well and are willing to pass it to me. 3) Other DPS need it and aren't willing to pass, in which case I have to roll and win against others.
All three are "fair" situations.

You can't trust anyone but yourself.
I needed that Trinket for my DW DK Frost Off spec but the only way I'd be able to farm it w/o any break was that I needed to Tank so I get faster queue time. So I did this and that dropped but guess what? The DPS needed also so I was SOL because I came in there as a tank so I lost out. So ok .. Fine.. I decided I'd farm it as DPS and guess what it dropped again? Hell .. I was ready to take that baby but the tank rolled on it and won it. Was I &*!@ed? Hell yeah I was..
I took the time to farm that place as DPS and a tank rolled on my item so therefor I will be doing the same. So anyone who complains about some other class/spec rolling on an item that is rollable for them needs to STFU. Blame the system not the player.

Well, I'd already won the roll when he left. But we'd have killed the Black Knight in far less time than the deserter debuff, and it's hardly as if it hurt the rest of us that he left, none of us needed anything from the last boss anyway...

Most people over 4k GS in ToC5 are there to farm one of the trinkets. Chance are he's been after that for his dps set longer than you were. I was running for that 25 times for my DKs DPS set. I was tanking the run cuz I could get in faster, and my 42k unbuffed health + 55% avoidance makes the run loleasy. I rolled against hunters and rogues a few times when it dropped until eventually I won it.
It's a normal dungeon that can be farmed over and over all day long. yeah I get annoyed when my low geared toons farming for actual upgrades and not offset upgrades get beaten on a roll by a tank or healer, but it's not like I'm saved for a whole day. Which reminds me... I'm still using the 219 warrior / pally boots from FoS normal after I had the 232's taken by a dps on heroic and haven't seen them since. Looks like you just ran into a spoiled d-bag used to getting his way.
