Well, I pull anywhere around 4-5k dps on my lowly geared fire mage.

I haven't used fire since Naxx. Only some top geared mages play fire in Heroic ICC.
I can assure you that I'm well aware of the dps potential of any mage spec. :)
But luckily for me, most people I group with don't really care the 100 or so dps difference I would gain from speccing Arcane.
And hey, even Rawr seems to think I would do more dps in my current, mostly 232 ilevel, gear.

4-5k. Maybe 6k if you're good.
Mage dps will probably be lower for every fight until Festergut.
Marrowgar involves some target switching and a fair bit of moving,
LDW is all about switching targets, in 25 you're polymorphing, 10 you're probably on decursing duty as well as the pewpew. In my 10 man group I was one of two magic users to kill/kite the magic only mobs, as well as decursing/spell stealing. Fun times.
Lootship doesn't count. And DBS you're switching targets/kiting/pewpewing the beasts. What your dps on the fight depends oddly on your overall dps. More dps means less/no kiting the beasts equalling more time on the boss and such. The lower your dps, means the more time you have to kite the mobs and less time dealing damage.
Festergut is the one boss where you can sit there and nuke your heart out. Good times. It's the first boss in ICC where mages don't feel gimped, and we can do what we do best.

All ICC fights are gimmick fights. When rawr sais 5k all the moving makes 4k tops. Plenty people drop sub 2500, what still is enough to down Marrowgar. After that you got to press moar buttonz m8 LOL

I don't know how people in at least 4500 gs can't make above 4k dps... IN ICC WITH 25% BUFF! I was hitting that around 3400 gs with no buff! O.o
