Will Gearscore be gone when Cata's out?

Isn't there an addon that "breaks" GS? I thought it made it so it wouldn't display yours, so someone would have to inspect you. I guess it could work since you could show up with some t9 on and look like you have gear.
There is - but GearScore is attempting to code around it.
The way I understand it, GearScore uses a hidden chat channel to send the information regarding your character's gear score. GearScoreBreaker taps into that chat channel and sends false information to the person's GS database, so that your total GS shows up as 6000.
The add-on is called
GearScoreBreaker
, and from what I've read, GS may have been updated to compensate for the masked data GSB sends. There's also apparently a feud of some sort between the makers of the two add-ons, with GS stating that GSB constitutes malware (false).
GearScore is a somewhat useful tool for raid leaders. To those raid leaders (and players in general) who rely
solely
on GS to determine how "good" a player is: You're idiots.

it will be even worse then you think at least if you're a dps/healer, bc let's face it no pug is gonna run 25man when 10m gives same loot and they are on same lockout.
so assuming that the amount of tanks stay the same and there is no reason to assume it would suddenly rise as the demand for tanks is already sky high and there numbers aren't really increasing a lot. even less dps/healers will get an opportunity to get in the (pug) raid.
which means the tanks can ask even more stupid GS numbers.
or you could just join a guild, bc come cata there will be a whole lot more good 10m guilds so if you couldn't find a guild now that fits your schedule, chances are you will in cata.
Also i don't understand why Blizz leaves GS (mind you it doesn't hurt me as i don't pug) but wasn't the idea of the emblems so that new ppl/casuals could catch up and enjoy the "end-game" raiding scene? i mean GS (and kill-achiements for that matter) pretty much kill that philosophy.

Not to mention that there will be guild progression bonuses as well. Why pug a run when you could earn XP for your guild, and get cool stuff like reduced repair costs for raids and so forth?

now, if pugs demand to have the achievement, and you don't have it, sadly the only solution is to raid with your guild.

EDIT: 1 question. For all of you who are complaining about the misuse of GS (It has been misused, yes.), what would you have PuG raid leads do? I'm certainly open to feedback as to suggestions/systems, but I've been wiped too many times by idiots to go with the "Oh! Trust me! I've done this a THOUSAND times! I won't wipe you ALL...!" System. I'd just like to know what everyone would have in the place of GS - a way to prove to us PuG raid leads that you know what you're doing.Inspect or check armory before inviting. It is also a far better way of checking gear than GS as you won't end up with 5.5k gs retards running around in your raid with no gems or enchants whatsoever.

I farmed Heroics and some easier raids to get myself gear. When I finally got bored of the same god damn heroics I wanted some raids... But as soon as I tried to join any raid, I never had enough GS and/or achievement. Then I wondered, how the hell am I supposed to get my damn GS up and achievements, if I can't get into raids in the first place.
Then I realized, that I should have a guild. Then I was like "!@#$ it!"; I only run heroics for money now, I intend to stay in this very good RP guild and PvP with them... I'm just so full of this ^&*!ing GearScore and achievements %^&*, that I simply decided to give up that part of the game. At least they aren't watching my GS in BGs.
GS is slowly destroying the fun of the game.
WoW is now becoming like a job to me where GS is my pay.

I feel your pain. I, in no way, have a problem with gearing up to be on par with everyone else, but you can only gear up so much though heroics and crafting. I just started playing WoW in Jan., and I have a hunter. I basically got all of my T9 set with decent, crafted pieces, and enchants on more than half my gear, but on Tichondrius, I can't get into hardly anything! My gearscore is about 4.8 or something, and my WoW heroes is about 2.5k. Since I'm a new player, I'm broke compared to other people, and I can't afford lv264 crafted pieces right now. How can I get geared up better when I can barely get into raids and most guilds are beyond me and asking for overgeared people as well?
Basically, people want you to be uber-overgeared to get into raids. I can barely get into VoA on Tich, and you know that is sad... What is even more sad is that everyone asks for WH score on Tich, but they don't even take reference to the raid progression meter that goes along with the WH score. Although at the minimum, I'm geared enough to get into ICC according to WoW heroes, so that means that I should be able get into any raid before that. Well I barely can... Occasionally, I might get a lucky break, but it doesn't happen often.
