believe it or not, sylvannas IS concerned about her people (and even the blood elves as you find out during the earlier quests of TBC) heck during the develpment of the plage she especifically demanded that the plage kills living, and scourge but not forsakens.Uh... what Rank? She tested the Blight on her own people(she called them criminals, but she didn't really care if it was true or not(Arthas Rise of the Lich King)), to make sure it would kill undead things as well as the living.....
I doubt she cares about the horde, but her loyalty to both her old people (elves) and her new people (forsaken) is behond question, they all worship her with near god-like devotion (victory for sylvannas, dark lady watch over you being among their greetings and farewell quotes)I don't think she really cares about them beyond what they can do for her; as in, she expects them to lay down their lives for her, as that's her due.

ah, so she's like hannibal lector :O
now now xD let's not get carried away, she isn't even worthy of licking hannibal's boots. He is superior in every way, but she is a great character for the same reasons as he is.
she's not a noble woman, nor someone to admire, nor someone to emulate, she's someone to hate, and while most villians in wow don't make the slightest effort to make you hate them, sylvannas manages to make you hate her guts out :P
and she's intimidating too. being honest, I coudn't find a way to hate the guardians of the vault of archavon, I was just killing them for loot, I didn't hated ragnaros, or hakkar, I didn't hated malchezar or jaraxxus.
they all died at my blade but for loot and "to stop them from taking over the world" but with sylvannas.......... I hate her, and I would love to kill her, even if she drops no loot I'd gladly form a raid and gank her ass day and night. she's just that type of character that evokes an emotion within you.
while most wow villians make you feel neutral towards them, some manage to evoke simpaty, admiration or full hatred to them.
Sylvannas is heavy on the hate part.

hummm na, not really, I've seen the TVshow (and the books ) of dexter, and even when he's a villian (he kills people) he is a simpatethic one, the kind of villian you just never hate and actually want him to suceed.
if I had to pick a villian who resembles sylvannas it would be another blizzard Villian named Sarah Kerrigan (she's from starcraft) :P
but so far, do you agree with what I said ? about her being one of those characters you just love to hate? (don't deny it :D you love to hate her, and it would feel very satisfying to fight her even if no loot is offered)

Nah, Dexter Morgan is a "good" serial killer. I don't think you are supposed to hate him... at least I don't.
Also, I love when someone calls out a post saying "people will just ignore this, even the guy I'm quoting," then ignore my response. ;-)

and yes i agree, she's a char you love to hate :p
see? mission acomplished, that's why she's a well made character, because she made you feel something.
if archavon was standing outside of his intstance, and was there to be killed but offered no loot, nothing whatsoever, I wound't bother to do anything to him because he's meaningless to me.
if Varian or Sylvannas or Garrosh was out there unprotected and I could kill them, I would gladly, even if no loot is offered.
and OJO it doesn't have to be hate, a good character is a character that makes you feel something for them, wheter is hate, admiration, pity, inspiration and a wide ECT. if he/she made you feel something, then it's a great one.
when I saw saurfang helping me on that quest in borean tundra all I could think of was AWEEEEEEESOOOOOOMEEEEE!, when I saw the lore on nobundo and velen I cound't help but salute to them. when I saw the lore on varian and garrosh I hated their guts out. when I saw the lore of sylvannas I (initially) pitied her, but now I despise her.
this is the mark of a well made character, the moment they spark some sort of emotion on the viewer, so that they aren't anymore just pixels or ink, but actual entities that you can either hate or love.
I hope my little explanation made you more Open minded about wow and its characters.

i ddint want to double post?
Then edit?
I think you just decided to ignore my comment because you think I'm dead-set against you. :P While I'm not actually out to prove you wrong, current (legit) evidence is not enough to convince me to agree with you.
