Wouldn't it make more sense to change the +int gem to blue instead of the +hit? I mean mana, mages and so on...
P.S.: sorry if this thread isn't what you have expected.

Not really, because most people don't need to gem Int. Most DPS only gem blue to match meta sockets because there are no good options to even consider trying to match a blue past that.
Basically, as it currently is, Blue is not a DPS color.

Changing hit to blue will give DPS some actually useful alternatives for blue gems.
Only holy paladins will gem for Intellect, and it's pretty useless for DPS.

Well, coming Cata Intellect will give SP so it might become a good stats to gem for.

Depends on the conversion...assuming +SP gems will still exist.

Stupid answer.
In Cata int = spell power & crit = DPS.

I didn't know int was going to be for crit also, that is pretty cool.
It already does provide spell crit.
From WoWWiki
Increases chance to score a spell critical strike. This increase varies by class and level; in general, the relationship is linear as intellect increases. The rate of increase is generally based on the amount of intellect a class is expected to have at a certain level, given by the following table.
That being said, you don't necessarily have to match a blue gem to a blue slot. Green or purple work as well, and there are some halfway decent options there. It depends on what your character needs the most.
