hee, troll druids, which appear to have been in lore all this time after all (followers of the ancient animal gods) is all the evidense you need for why night elves have druidic magic.

Except the Night Elf legends talk of them finding the Well after leaving their original people(aka the Trolls), and learn about Elune and her magic while there. Again, it's possible they are an offshoot of the Night Elves, but they aren't the base for the race.

Night elves just prefer to think they came from elunes armpit rather then being disended from the more homely trolls.

I don't know. Either Troll druidism is a new thing, or they're just game-mechaniced shape shifting shadow hunters. Plus, it's made perfectly clear why they have it. Ysera gifted them with the ability, and they found they should not explore the arcane after the Sundering.

Well, even if that was true (I have no idea how the Night elves thinks they came to be), it doesn't change the fact that they "evolved" from Trolls.

Funny. In Norse myths, Frost Giants came from the sweat under Ymir's armpits.

Pointy ears, blue skin and technicolour hairstyles, how'd they even imagine anything else. This is what happened when some trolls set up a beach front hotel near the well for eternity, and slowly turned into megahippies with glowy eyes.

and there is no lore for where worgen come from other than what chris metzen said at blizzcon 09. so you dont have any lore to stick to. and they're from the past because they're related to an ancient druid sect from kalimdor's ancient past and so is their curse.Actually, the Book of Ur states pretty clearly that they're extradimensional. The curse itself may be what's from "some
when
else."

Metzen wins. Personally, we know four real dimensions. The Nether, The Dream, the Elemental Plane, and the material plane. (maybe the spirit world, where we are when we die.)
It's not from the material plane, they have no connection to the Elements.
So just two remain. The Nether or the Dream. This druidic thin seems to represent the dream. However, they seem a little brutal to be from the dream. I had a theory that they might have come from the layers,
The Emerald Dream also has multiple layers, described by Cenarius as different testing versions of Azeroth. These layers were created because the titans invested a great deal of work in perfecting their design of Azeroth, so, the finished design of the planet was the product of many previous flawed or unfinished models. Each layer represents an abandoned segment or idea that the titans tried and ultimately discarded. Malfurion observed that it looks like neither the mortal plane nor the Emerald Dream. He saw that one mountain peak lacked its northern face, while another peak looked as if someone had started molding it like clay but had lost interest. These older layers were normally uninhabited, invisible and incomplete, therefore limited in scope, relative to the finalized Dream. But they could be accessed by any who knew how to navigate them.
This would mean they were an abandoned project of the Titans, that's escaped from it's prison, usually within it's own habitat, much like the Troggs. Thoughts?

Or, it's part of the material plane, aka another world.

You mean like other than Draenor/Azeroth? I don't think that equates to another dimension.

Technically, Draenor is another dimension compared to Azeroth; you do reach it through a portal and all, and even the Naaru vessels use plane shifting tech to travel the nether/deep black.

That's because Draenor was thrown into the Twisting Nether when it became Outlands. It's in the Twisting Nether. Plus, I'm guessing the Worgen existed before the destruction of Draenor.

Well, yeah, but again, considering what the original Worgen were facing off against; the Lords of Emerald Flame(more then likely some form of the Legion), if it was Azeroth or some aspect of Azeroth(the Dream), that would mean they could strike whenever they want, instead of waiting on people to open portals for them.
It's entirely possible, just like with Medivh and Gul'dan, that the Scythe could force open portals between worlds, and it reached that world under attack.

Emerald could be fel flame, but it does sound suspiciously dream related. Especially for a race who's drudic past is going to be stressed.

"are the worgen from somewhere else.....or someWHEN else?".
that's known as a hint, not as actual factual details.
he never mentioned he was refering to some worgens, or all worgens, he didn't refer to the past or the future when he said somewhen else.
and like Adamsm said, there are many types of worgen in azeroth, I mean, some retain their worgen forms on death (Duskwood, silverpine and gilnean versions), while others revert back to human unpon death (grizzly hills version), some transform to worgen permanently (Duskwood versions), others only transform when they look at the moon (pyrewood version) and others can transform at will (gilnean and grizzly hills version)
heck bro' for all we know there could be a miriad of varieties of worgens in azeroth, it's not farfetched to say some could be from a diferent timeline (doesn't have to be the past, it could also be the future) and some could be from another world.
bottom line: don't take a single line wich was meant as a mere TEASER, as oficial confirmed canon, because NOTHING was confirmed at blizzcon, and many things shown or said at blizzcon are subject to change (everyone remembers how the original runeforging skill of the DK's used to be when announced on blizzcon?)

Not really... as there has never been any evidence of the 'lords of Emerald Flame' in the Dream, especially as the only threat to the Dream lately has been the Nightmare. Also, Face, remember; the Dream is what Azeroth would have been if no sentient species evolved on it... so yeah, unless the Worgen were 'stupid' animals, they couldn't have come from the Dream.
