Saurfang (10) Tips as a Pally Tank?

I just joined a new guild that's slowly progressing through ICC. I've only done this fight once before, and it was like a month ago with a different guild and managed to two-shot him. Here's my main concern: I'm a Pally Tank, and 2 of my major abilities either hit multiple targets (HotR) or are AOE (Consecration). The first (and only so far) time I did him, I basically just used Judgment, Holy Shield, and Shield of Righteousness because of the two Blood Beasts he spawns; I was told it's imperative that the tank not accidentally pull either of them.
I'm afraid to use Consecration and Hammer because Consecration will touch the area where the Beasts spawn and make them come after me, and Hammer might end up hitting one of them too. We just barely managed the last time (we literally downed him the second he hit enrage)
Any tips for me for this?

I just mean the last time I killed him, we did it right as he was enraging (we actually thought it was going to be a wipe). I don't know if it was DPS (we did kind of lack in the DPS department, we really didn't think we were going to get him down but we were giving it a shot to learn the fight) or what. Just saying.

Like people said earlier...
Consecrate is fine. Don't do your hammer right when the beasts spawn. Adjust your rotation when that might occur.
Taunt immediately when you see rune of blood. You can pretty much time this with when your own Rune of Blood drops off. Make sure to save an ability to cast right after you taunt that isn't consecrate or holy shield, so your other tank my not accidentally overaggro you.
And that's pretty much it...

It honestly doesn't matter. If you have the proper ranged dps on beasts, they won't stay in melee range long even if you accidentally aoe them. I use all my moves when tanking Saurfang, did so last night.
You essentially should have DBM as folks have said to tell when beasts are coming. You should also have a mod that shows target of target. Once the other tank gets the mark, you should taunt Saurfang and tank him. Once you get it, the other tank should know to taunt.
If you aren't tanking Saurfang, you could taunt the beasts if your ranged are in trouble. Make sure you use SoV and glyph for the extra expertise on Saurfang for better single target threat. You essentially have to hold aggro during your phase of tanking. Go all out and don't worry about the beasts.
If your group is having issues with beasts, you can use avenger's shield for a temp slowing effect when they spawn. If there are folks that can stun like a warr tank and shockwave, that helps. Otherwise this is just a tank and spank.

Beasts are really a DPS concern. Since they take less aoe damage, as stated, Consecrate is fine. Just hold off on HotR until the Beasts are out of melee. But it's not like you're consistently damaging them. As a DK I'm still using Heart Strike when the come out, even though it's a cleave. I healed it on my Pally, but tanking it is pretty much the same as any other tank n spank really. Just have to make sure the dps actually
take
the Beasts out of melee.

I guess I'll throw in the other viewpoint:
Go ahead and tank them if you happen to pick one up. You'll only get a moderate amount of additional blood power, and if anything it allows your ranged DPS (if they are weak) to stand still and DPS rather than trying to kite. On normal mode it doesn't really matter if a beast is on a tank for a little while, it should be dead in a few seconds anyway. And changes are the beast will Dodge/Parry/Miss on the beast and not get additional BP anyway.
I wouldn't recommend you do it in hardmode though.
The VAST majority of blood power in 10 man normal comes from Blood Nova and Blood Boil, which you can't really prevent. Getting a couple extra BP from the beasts isn't going to make or break your fight.

I don't even see how it's possible to hit the enrage, since mark healing should be way out of control before you get close to enrage.

When we did it, we were short on DPS (as far as output) and didn't have that great a makeup (2 DKs, 2 Hunters and 2 Retpallys as DPS, a resto shammy and resto druid as heals, a pally tank and a prot warrior as tanks). So we had the hunters pull the beasts, the DKs use Chains of Ice to slow them down, and burned them that way. So we ended up hitting the enrage and downing him just as he enraged.
Like I said, it was our first attempt at it, and we didn't really expect to get him down, just see him (most of us had never been to ICC before) and learn the fight. Downing him was a shock; he did wipe us previously at like 3% because he enraged and we figured what the heck, we got really close let's give it one more shot.

Grats on the kill. Honestly nowadays with any kind of class makeup this should be doable. It really does depend on the gear of your raiders.
When we did it, we were short on DPS (as far as output) and didn't have that great a makeup (2 DKs, 2 Hunters and 2 Retpallys as DPS, a resto shammy and resto druid as heals, a pally tank and a prot warrior as tanks). It does seem you were a bit low on ranged, but it's still doable. The Hunters should both place frost traps right before the adds spawn on both sides of the stairs Saurfang is on. That should give them enough time to dps them down while slowed. If not, the warrior can also
stun
them when they come out and the dk's can
chains of ice
them as well for further slowing.
If all else fails you can even taunt them off the ranged if you aren't directly tanking him that moment. The key to the fight is switching tanks as soon as you see the
red icon
appear over the other tank. If you leave this on too long without switching tanks, he gains a ton of energy.
