Me and a friend are very very new to the arena scene. I've read around here on the forums, and a lot of it is sound data, but I must ask about counters for the insane burst DPS duos we encounter here and there.
Usually it either goes Retladin/Arms warrior or replace either with a rogue, or make it some combo of casters.
Our general rule of thumb is to go after the easiest one to kill, however in situations where there are two plate wearers we tend to have a tough time. It would make sense to go after the paladin, but the warrior just eats us for breakfast. As for rogues, we've found that it is very important to focus on them in such groups, since 1. They die the fastest, 2. They can push out incredible amounts of burst damage.
One problem involving rogues we have also encountered, is when they have a healer. Now in most cases we've done ok, but one group no matter what I did, I'd bring the healer down to almost 10% health and I just can't kill them. Am I doing something wrong? I usually try to keep the priest shut up as much as possible, and in the case I don't focus on the priest for whatever reason, I usually try to harass them with my ghoul.
Any slightly more advance tips for some newbies would be appreciated.

A) You both lack a lot of gear.
B) It's late in the season, meaning skilled/geared people will be carrying their friends to 1800(starting low). You will get raped by them, guaranteed.
C) As a DK, sub 2500 top end swing will make it extremely hard to kill stuff without adding some extra damage from your partner(resto druid being the best) which holy paladins are notoriously bad at.
D) DK's are very strong with good gear, but with your gear/ap/swing size, you will have a very very small chance of killing a healer with 1k+ resil unless they do something stupid. Fully gem+enchant+trinket for AP/STR with 75 spell pen on the side. Don't ever gem/enchant for resil as a DK. Maximize on output and learn to not get fake casted. Wasting mind freeze is a major no no. If you get juked too much, you won't win.
E) Practice survival/pealing off your partner. Hope for a good chain with HoJ+strang+MF with garg up and IBF/AMS up if needed to keep yourself on the target.

It's getting extremely discouraging as of late. No matter what we do, it seems to boil down to I just can't lay down enough dps. Does anyone have some suggestions for us aside from gear or going with some other combo? We just went on for a crazy ass long match with this wrathful hunter/healadin duo, and the stupid enemy paladin's mana just wouldn't diminish. What were we doing wrong? We kept pummeling, me my partner my ghoul even my gargoyle just couldn't kill her. Initially we tried to kill the hunter, but failed and decided to try and stress the paladin.
It's enough to make me just want to give up. How the hell do we even compete with these people with such superior gear? In order to get the better stuff we need to win, but we can't win without gear. I apologize if I sound like I'm whining, but it's just so gosh darn depressing at times.

i was thinking of bringing my undead warrior up, since they seem to have some ridiculous DPS output if used correctly. Most common duo from my understanding as well. Would 3v3 be better if we had one more person to help with damage?

So essentially it seems DK's are near useless in 2v2. Only times I've seen us win is by nuking the softest target (which doesn't always work) or simply outlasting the other teams mana pools.
I also notice that against resto druids, it's nigh impossible to kill them, snaring doesn't work and they just run away and toss hots up all the time. Only thing I can imagine killing a resto druid is overwhelming DPS at the start to where they can't heal through it, be that a rogue, palm pyro mages, or limiting their healing ability, via MS or WP (wounding poison).
Such a shame really, I don't know many people who are willing to do arena in 3's. I'll have to see how my warrior works out I suppose.
Any other tips and or suggestions would be appreciated if you come up with any =)

Well, i ran again with my friend on my DK and did surprisingly well. Granted we went up against a lot of dual DPS that were not in the best of gear. But I did notice something different with a particular team.
It was our build, Healadin/DK however the opposing DK was frost and was in relentless. What I noticed is that with proper management of mana on my partners half, and me pounding on the paladin with me and my ghoul, we were able to beat them but completely burning the pallys mana down to nothing. We ended up winning against a team whom just made poor choices even when they were better geared than us.
It does take forever to kill as a DK since as you said, we can't push enough DPS out without a decent weapon/gear. Would it be worth it for me to try and go for the battered hilt? Since I probably won't be running ICC any time soon.

Just in case you should want to go anywhere with your dk,

are simple upgrades that are easy to come by, and you can improve your output and durability just by doing this.
This will put your top end swing damage over 2k and increase your resil. Then you could, idk, swap out the belt and boots, maybe do some VoA and hope for some drops, buy upgrades, etc, etc.
The Hilt would help out a lot as well. That is a perfectly viable upgrade that would definitely increase your output.
I forgot to mention, I've been running into some strange comps lately in 3's. Normally you hear about Arms war+2 heals.
Well..... Unholy DK + 2 heals is popping out of the woodworks. I saw one last night, and

Thankyou, that really helps lightrain.
I was wondering if it would benefit me to pick up JC on my DK. Right now i'm a miner/skinner, and I think the JC only gems could really help with my damage output considering how drastically superior they are to even the epic gems.
