I just started leveling a Warlock (going affliction), and have gotten to lvl 32. A little background, my main is a Mutilate Rogue (80), and my only other real alt is a Feral Druid (76). So I am used to fighting things one at a time (in the case of the rogue, HAVING to fight things one at a time). Now, I have this Warlock with heirlooms, and a few blues from BRD, and I almost can't overwhelm him. I do better the more mobs I pull. If they are my level I can go to about 5 or 6, if they are green to me I can take a dozen at a time.
Does it stay like this all the way to 80? Leveling the rogue, i got used to the idea that pulling more than 2 mobs meant doing the corpse run. With this guy, you almost can't die! I am loving this toon so far, but can he stay this OP for 50 more levels?

if your level 32 lock is already in BRD then i'd say he is a bit OP ^^
32 is just into the the levels where what you're doing is possible but there are more tools throughout the affliction tree which really increase its effectiveness.
i would say though that if your experience of levelling a rogue was as you say then you should have thought about levelling combat. while it ideally takes mobs one at a time it can easily deal with a bad pull and several targets at once.

Actually, BRD was a run-through with an 80 buddy of mine to get the spellpower blue drops :-) Other than that run, all leveling has been legitimate (if you can call heirloom leveling legit)
As for the rogue, I know combat would have made for better survivability, but I wanted a "true" rogue... a ninja/assassin/thief... so I leveled 1-80 as Sub, all the way to shadowdance. I loved it, and it was a BG monster 1 on 1, but leveling was sometimes tough. It was nice to stealth past mobs on the way to quest targets, but you had to be really careful not to pull more than 2 at most, or you had to blow vanish/COS. The rogue was my first toon, so I was also learning the game as I went.
It really is nice, though, on quests like the STV hunting stuff. I just did those, and was pulling 5 or 6 at a time with no problem. Makes for MUCH quicker leveling.

BRD = blackrock depths, a level 55+ zone
BFD = blackfathom deeps, level 20-27
if you're in b
r
d at 32 then you're on a private server ^_^
my point with the rogue was just that rogues generally don't
have
to pull one thing at a time. none of their specs favour AoE but your comment made it sound like all rogue specs struggle with multi-mob pulls and that's not really the case. i understand that you meant
your
rogue and levelling sub definitely has that assassin feel but i didn't want casual readers taking that impression of rogues away with them.

i was quoting mob level not level requirement. a good friend of mine is evangelical about boosting and takes his new characters directly from SM into BRD at 40 so i'm well aware of the minimum level to enter. 55 is the level used on the wowhead page and it illustrated my point better.

Yeah, I meant BFD... was run through once by a buddy of mine for the gear. I wish I would have a RAF, but I used that with my buddy when I first signed on a year ago, and can't get another newb to sign up.
As for rogues not favoring AoE... they don't even have AoE until 80. Multi-mob action is usually limited to 3 mobs ( sap one, cheap shot one, attack the third, blind the second when he comes off cheap shot, finish the third, finish the second, go back and work the first). If you are really good, you can maybe add a fourth and have one sapped, two on stun locks with cheap shot/gouge/blind/kidney shot, and work the fourth... but that is alot to keep track of. With the warlock, it is just dot-dot-tab, dot-dot-tab, dot-dot-tab, dot-dot-tab, etc. with a few shadow bolts, life taps, and drains thrown in for spice.
And the beauty of it is, the more dots you have running, the more you heal yourself, so more mobs is actually better. I love it.

omg i pulled 5 mobs by accident!
blade flurry
killing spree
fight over
but, yeah, once you grasp the fact that, if you achieve equilibrium with one mob then the process can be repeated ad infinitum, you can have a lot of fun with a warlock.
