Laihendi doesn't understand the concept of one word having two completely unrelated meanings.
Make that two nearly opposite meanings.
I cant see why you dont understand? Like gay can mean two completely different things, same thing with nigg@
R1ter, stop, he's just trying to make you flame, he's in a snit because his thread was locked so he's focusing on other ones.

Gay is often used as a word to describe something they do not like. Many of these same people consider being gay to be a bad thing, and discriminate against homosexuals. Even for those who do not discriminate, because this country (the US) and many others have a long history of discriminating against homosexuals, being gay is considered a bad thing by default. So because of this, "gay" is used to give something a negative connotation.
But n*gger being a racial slur and a word of... friendship (?) does not make sense to Laihendi.
Laihendi just wanted to make sure you didn't miss that since it was edited on to the last page.
And why are people assuming Laihendi is trying to cause problems because his thread was locked? Laihendi is stating his beliefs, and explaining why he thinks the way he does. He hasn't said anything in this thread to attack or offend anyone.
Yes, Laihendi's recent return began with him finding out about the pokedex being locked. Yes, he is upset about that. But even if it wasn't locked, he would still be here posting about what he thinks, and why he thinks it. The only reason why he hasn't really for several months is because he has been very busy in real life.

There are many words like this. 'Geek' is used as a slur by popular people who want others to feel like social rejects, but it is also used in close circles of geeky people to show acceptance and that they are one in the same.
It might not make sense to you, but it doesn't make it any less true. The simple fact is that the word is generally off-limits and used in a demeaning manner between strangers, but in a positive manner between friends who accept the word as a term of endearment. You know, like 'geek'. :)

N*gger is
not
a word of friendship. Nigg@ is and it depends on how you use the word.

Also, in relation to the term 'gay', it's the same thing. Some homosexuals who are close to one another call each other gay as a term of endearment. Most people, however, use it in a demeaning manner.
Plus, 'gay' in its original meaning meant 'happy', which was a positive thing. The fact that it came to be a negative thing as well is because it's used as a synonym for 'homosexual' and a segment of society does not look positively upon homosexuals. In fact, that usage has gotten so bad that if you ever try to describe someone as 'gay' because they are happy, I would bet that most people would think you were talking bad about them.

I'm going to guess he means that some circles of friends use the word as a descriptor for each other and all involved are generally okay with it.

That means the word doesn't have a different meaning, they are just more tolerant of criticism from their friends.

It sounds to me as if you are not familiar with the Geek Pride Movement. :) Heck, there's even a
day
where geeks celebrate their geekiness.

So basically any word can mean anything.
It's not a binary thing. It's not a case of 'a word can only mean one thing' versus 'any word can mean anything'. Every language evolves over time. There was a time where 'spider' referred to an eight-legged creature but now also refers to the act of scanning pages on a site to index their content.
You'll never know all meanings to all words, but it pays to be knowledgeable about which words could potentially piss off other people. :)
