My friend is a moonkin, that's his
profile
. Today he got a
Nibelung
in ICC25. He's been wondering if it's worth to lose haste from
Mag'hari Chieftain's Staff
. What do you think about it?

when ever i see a moonkin with nibelung over mag'hari or abrakadaver i just chuckle and move on...9 times out of 10 its people trying to boost their gs, the other 1 they think its amazing. i really have no hard numbers on the proc rate of nibelung and how great that proc is, but im id rather take the haste on mag'hari, or the hit from abra and forgo the SP boost nibelung has. i routinely out dps moonkins with nibelung b/c my stats are better allocated (i.e higher haste and crit for possibly a bit less sp)

spirit on mag only converts to 40, blizzard rounds down not up.
i laugh at them when i out dps them with my abrakadaver and when people form icc 25 runs with "nibelung on reserve" so they can boost their GS and get a "super awsum proc!11!"
btw like you said, proc'd valkyrie can die. and you can have bad rng and get few. in which case you would have benefited more from the additional haste on mag
btw under comment that said 27k per proc, "- The Val'kyr spam Smite for a total of roughly 15-17k dmg per proc. They have 12600hp and no AOE-avoidance effects, so on fights with heavy raid damage they can be killed quite quickly." pretty big gap there. in either case 15-17k is one starfire...two for 27k, so they arent THAT outstanding.

Actually Blizzard truncates but who's keeping track.

I;d like to see where that quote is from and what the date on it is as ever evidence shown in multiple testings has proven it to be that 27k number.
E&M, Arcane Emp., as well as others boost these numbers higher. They are also susceptible to Heroism and can even occasionally crit as a result of having 3% crit debuf on the target....

And yeah, I out-DPS a moonkin in our guild who has Nibelung while I'm still using Abracadaver. That doesn't do anything to prove that Nibelung is a worse weapon that Abracadaver. There are a lot of other factors involved there as well, such as the fact that I do a fair amount of research about how to gear and also know how to play my class well. I'd imagine you're in something of a similar circumstance in comparison to those other moonkin, so kudos to you for knowing how to play your class well. But you may find that you'd get even more DPS out of Nibelung.
yea that is true. in fact i might take a nibelung if/when i can cover the hit from abra...would be fun to mess with at least, even if im not that fond of procs.
as for curly: i got that quote from the nibelung page on wowhead, second reply to the 1st post (sorted by date). i dont have one to test this, but whether its 27k or 15k...thats two casts worth of damage. sure it adds up over a fight which is nice, but you could also have bad rng and get none or few procs over a fight or have them die (i dont imagine they survive long at all on festergut for instance, or through a bonestorm even)....idk i would prolly consider using it if/when i get more t10 to cover the hit from trading away abrakadaver; could be fun

The only time I have ever seen a valk die on Festergut was when he exhaled.
When a valk is up they are doing 2.25k hps to themselves... they are damn hard to kill from raid damage and generally the only thing you actually see killing them is anything that would one shot them.
They do indeed do 27k dmg a proc if they stay up the whole time. They also have a 2% chance to proc as well. Any other numbers you are reading were pre-balancing.
Edit: RNG is RNG do you complain when you have 10 Wraths in row without a Lunar proc?

Actually the problem with Nibelung is that the Val'kyr proc doesn't scale with the buff that we're getting in ICC afaik. So its getting weaker and weaker relative to other gear that scales straight up (straight SP for example).

This is indeed the case being seen recently and only with the 15% being released has it actually been dropped below other options, such as Bonespike+Baton.
I still have not tested numbers to check if Mag'hari is higher now. I would wager that it is but not by very much. For that matter Bonspike+Baton are barely a better option as things stand.
All in all if you have the Nibelung or don't see yourself picking up a different option anytime soon it is just as strong. Nibelung is still stronger in any instance outside of ICC.

bonespike + baton look a lot better than nibelung, especially in light of valkyr not scaling with icc buff. mag'hari should have a slight advantage too depending on your haste levels

I am currently using
Nibelung
, but have
Frozen Bonespike
,
H Midnight Sun
, and
H Scourgelords Baton
burning in my bank/used for resto. My question is: which setup would you use for boomkin?
Char is in sig v v and am 4 off from haste softcap, and I am roughly crit softcapped with idol procced (1575.5 - int/3 according to EJ)
You will want Bonspike +baton in your case. Then go through your gear and pull every SP/Hit gem and convert to SP/Haste.
It would also be very worth your time to get Sundial of the Exiled or Abyssal Run and replace that Fetish in the second trinket slot :P
