Ask again in the 11th hour of beta and you might get a practical answer. Right now we are just guessing since no one knows any of the actual numbers involved, even if we do know some of the mechanics.

at this point all we can trow out is speculation, as we dont' have any solid numbers on NOTHING.
but, I'll play along with you for a while ^_^
the most OP class of the expantion, the one everyone and their mothers will want to roll to actually feel like they are somebody, will be the enhance shaman of course =) since windfury is now making cuadruple hits on proc instead of 2.......
((Disclaimer: the above statement was intended as simple humor and/or sarcasm, there is no indication that windfury is being reworked to proc 4 hits instead of 2))

Most likely rogues, mages, hunters, and/or locks will have the highest dps. Blizzard tends to like giving the pure dps classes slightly more dps than hybrid classes. Truthfully though, wait for beta.

dunno, but I will be playing a druid the majority of the game, as I played a paladin/dk for WotLK
cataclysm just seems to be the druid expansion in my head.
Hyjal returns, gotta save the world tree, new druids, malfurion is back
just to name a few reasons
pfff, cataclysm is more of a shaman expantion than druid.
remember that the reason the world is going kamikaze-mode is because of an elemental upheaval, and who is atacking hyjal? the elementals.
what's the firelands+skywall+abysall maw+deepholme? elemental plains.
who's the class most deeply asosiated with the elements? the shaman.
of course the druids are more related to the land itself rather than the elements, so they too have a role to play, but the shamans are the ones who will have the larger protagonic role.
in WOTLK paladins are sort of the protagonist in leage with the DK's.
Pallys because they are the absolute nemesis of undead, and DK's because they are the ones who want most vengeance for what the lich king did to them.

In all seriousness, I'm thinking shamans and possibly frost mages with that boosted frostbolt increases all other damage from your spells, and the thing for shamans of I can run and smack you while casting.
