I can knock someone out with a potato. Are potatoes dangerous? (Note I'm not saying knives AREN'T dangerous, I'm just making a joke.)
Anything has the potential to be dangerous, given the "right" intent (The intent to cause harm).
Its often said that the weapons aren't dangerous, but the wielders are. (Unless guns become sentient, they themselves aren't necessarily dangerous)

My dad has an AK-47, an FAL, an M4 Carbine, and an AR-15, not to mention several handguns. If someone broke into our house, they would go to the hospital, if they survived.

Meh i'm waffling, in regards above, a knife is lethal in one quick attack, quick enough for you not to be able to defend yourself from it, while a...potato...would require time and a fair bit of luck to be really harmful. Oh, and in that news article, it's in Brittan where the legal age is 18 so odds are he thought he could con his way in (for those who live in a godforsaken place where the legal age is 21...poor buggers)
It's
Britain
. Nitpickery. :P
Also, half of my friends go to night clubs (most are 18+, but some are 21+) who are my age - 16/17.
