Hi all.
I've played a lot with my druid and my hunter in wotlk, i've played rogue and priest in vanilla, i've played a shammy in tbc. Then is the warrior time. I don't have enough time to play end lvl contest and i've decided to start exping a new alt.
But i need a lot of advices.
I've already bought heirloom shoulder and chest(mail one for agi and ap, wasting int but it doesn't matter). Now i'm lvl 12.
I think the best way lvl is prot till 60, then respec fury and exp with 2 heirloom 2-h axes, what do you think? Is possible tanking istance with a good equip but not prot spec? I mean, with shoulder and chest, with a lot of money and with a 2h heirloom weapon is possible tanking istance like wc, zul farak etc?
What should be my next heirloom? I'm undecided btw 2X haste trinket or the weapon, but i'm not sure if a 2-h weapon is a wise choice for exping purpose. The 2 trinket in solo exping must be wounderfull: a lot of haste and +4% heal everytime i kill a mob means no eating time...
The abstract of my wall of text is: is prot the best lvl spec viable? What heirloom after shoulder and chest shpould i pick? A very well geared fury warrior can tank istance in not-defensive stance and obviously not-protection spec? Maybe is better dual spec...

Hi to a newly warrior!Welcome to the family.
For starters u should have bought the plate heirlooms(they just turn mail until 40 when u learn to wear plate).
I think the best way lvl is prot till 60, then respec fury and exp with 2 heirloom 2-h axes, what do you think? Is possible tanking istance with a good equip but not prot spec? I mean, with shoulder and chest, with a lot of money and with a 2h heirloom weapon is possible tanking istance like wc, zul farak etc?
u planned to go prot the first 60 lvls and in the other sentence u want to tank in a different specc?
Let me explain one thing here:
Tanking with a 2-hand can be done in rfc-wc-dm(etc starter instances)with no worries.
When u hit gnomeregan(lvl 30~something)when accidents may happen(like bad pulls-not only from u but also from the other players)a nc shield with armor/mitigation stats can do great difference over the 2-hand.So in your place i would equip a shield and buy myself a
battleworn thrash blade
.
(cause i prefer resilience over stamina and the added swing can give u extra rage and also as weapon speed matters u can hold aggro more easily. Its btr than the
mace
or
the other sword
for tanking imo).
Now after 40lvl protection warrior truly shines as a tank over the other speccs(more damage mitigation from talents-vigilance is also a great add when u find urself grouped with mages/locks and other dps especially heirloom equipped that can top ur threat).
But
hey! u re 40
dual specc
is avalaible and as u stated money is not an issue so buy it and have 1 spec prot 1 spec whatever u want(as i atm do).
I also recommend u to buy 2 of the
swift hand of justice
trinkets.Less downtime on questing, less heals from the healer so less downtime from him eating to replenish his mana equals faster runs, more queues, faster lvling.
A very well geared fury warrior can tank istance in not-defensive stance and obviously not-protection spec? Maybe is better dual spec...
I assume u are talking 60+lvl.
Haven t seen anyone tanking in the lvling process.End game content yes with very good gear.
Thought if u wanna try it i ld like a repost of your experience, not that's not viable but still.....
I can t think that with same gear how u can hold aggro over the others.
I hope i gave u some answers.Best regards

Thx for help. I'll follow both ways with dual spec. Wtf a exping war with 2 2-hand heirloom axe and 2 hand of justice must rock. And with crusader on both lol... now i'll reach 40 prot specced and then i'll follow arms till 60 and fury after.

Np.
A warrior with 2
bloodied arcanite reapers
and the 2 haste trinkets surely rocks....even 1 arcanite reaper and a
repurposed lava dredger
(thought i don t like the look but whatever) for its arpen rocks....
the sad thing is that he can t tank not that he isn t any good...
Also if u reach 60 as arms i don t think that u wanna leave
bladestorm
light heartetly.
Titan's Grip
is still awesome but once u hit 60 u ll know what u really want.
I ll recommend u hold 1 spec as prot thought for faster lvling.
The fact that an ordinary queue for a dps is like 10-20 min while the average for tank is <1min.
Also if that warrior is an alliance the queues are more than if u are a horde player since Alliance has more ppl.

Bah, this is very disputable. My realms horde:alliance ratio is 9:1 and afaik, the other realms in my battlegroup are in a similar situation (one being referred to as a completely horde server). From my point of view, every single person and their dog plays the Horde cause they are sho badaash.
Some allies on my server actually have AoE world PvP talent builds. (joking)

Well before rolling horde i was playing an alliance lock(that got hacked the day i paid the faction change(i was totally &*(^&* $ up))and then i rolled my shaman and now my warrior(both tauren).
The thing is that Lfd is like bg's that takes characters from multiple realms to gather the 5-man
As i have experienced through the realms i play, almost always allies are more than horde(every lil kid's dream is/was to roll a NE rogue or Human pala).
Only in twillight's hammer(my shaman server)i have seen horde been more than the alliance.
So excuse me if i harrassed the mighty horde with that comment.
I know that realms exist with more horde than alliance.
Back in vanilla horde was the majority of matured players. Thus they were few....
After blood elves came with tbc expansion the horde/alliance came to balance cause a lot of ppl rolled belf.
As i see it now in cata a lot gonna play worgen.
The only thing from the races that i anticipate is the goblin mount. My tauren gonna be like "i don t fit in there!xD"
I went a lot off topic so i end up here...we can discuss a lot about the population but i gave that information just to clarify that more ppl in your chosen faction equals more and constantly queues in bgs/lfd.

you left out arms....
arms is going to be OP at the lower levels with rend and overpower. then if you like it, just stick with it until you dual spec prot.

I'll say this. I just dinged 80 about a month ago as a warrior.
Do this:
Level as protection all the way up.
Why? AoE killing > solo pulls 100% of the time.
Bonus: For using LFD tool, you get badges. With prot, there is zero que time. I had 60 badges when I dinged 80. To do that on a DPS.. probably not possible unless you like waiting for hours on end.
Secondly, Stay prot well into 80. While running heroics, you can use that instant-que to spam heroics for badges and loot.
The "Trick" - You can roll need on DPS gear, much to the disdain of other plate dps trying to get it. If they boot you, so what. You got your item and can instant que for more randoms.
Seriously, if LFD stays in the expac, I will *always* keep a tank off-spec for instant heroics.

I've tried prot and wtf, is wonderfull. A nice dps when exping in battle stance, 2 in dps after a 25 rogue(i'm 17)in a WC run. I full my equip with blu, the shield turtle a blu sword from rfc(and a lvl 19 blu mace from wc), blue cloack from dungeon bonus, a blu waist. A good choice. The only problem is you casn fgind a lot of noooob if you make dungeon with random player... like a warlock who likes to tank and do dps on the wrong mob, a rogue puller, a priest who finiosh mana every pull and complains i don't wait to let him rest -.-

y..... that's a problem in the early lvls, sometimes even at 80

You know mate u can always tell them politely that u are farming dps gear and i can assure you that a lot of geared ppl will pass it cause they don t need it.A few problems may come with enchanters that farming hcs to lvl their proffession but overall u will take the loot u want.
Also while lvling there isn t any hc dungeons only reg ones.
i`m sick of ppl like you need on dps items when tanking.
As i said u can always ask for that loot and see what they answer. There isn t any problem in a tank that need a dps item if he needs it for his other specc or bored from tanking and wanna try some dps and the only way to gear up is to queue as a tank to get it.
Or should he run naked in your opinion so he can actually need it?

Now i have this spec:

WHere should i put future point?
this way?
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#LZZVILr0czibh
or this way?
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#LZZVIxrxczVbcb
I'm dpoing a lot of dng and wioth well geared alts i love pulling 8-10 mob togheter... 5% dodge and 10% armor should be fine... but gag order seems cool, shield slam must do a lot of dmg, then better for questing and farming btw 2 istance... i don't knwo:P

if you plan on nuking things down, arms is the way to go. 45% increased critical strike chance at early levels is huge!

I've decided for this
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#LAM00fZhZVItrx0zibIzsGo:hbdm0M
I'm tankin aoe a lot and after a rfk run i see that my biggest source of dmg is revenge(38%) and after that there is tunderclap(450 hit in 40 min of run). I was 2 in dps after a well geared mage(we were 3 mage me and a priest). Then with the 2 talents and the glhyph i spend 8 rage for a tunderclap and 2 rage for a revenge... it means a lot more cleaving/HS. I also prefered taking all the defensive talent to resist better huge pull(now i can manage 3-4 pull togheter if my groupmate wait 2 tunderclap before starting dps). Thx for your help guys, thx a lot

I would stick with
vigilance
if i were u....
But it s in ur play-style if u want to use it.
I found a great help when running with random ppl and not friends to know their exact "moves" .
| give it to the highest dps so i can gain their 10% threat and especially on aoe fights imo its a life-saver(or rather on ur tps).
