Hello everyone,
I have been to ICC many weeks now, and to many's surprise, I havent had the mace from Marrowgar or the Neverending Winter drop from the gunship.
I have
this
for tanking but in the last gunship battle
this
dropped. Out of frustration for not getting the 2 drops I REALLY wanted, I took it, since it was going to be disenchanted anyways.
My armory
Any input appreciated.
Thanks
w it Im still @ 551 defense so no worries there.

EDIT: according to your armory you've killed Marrowgar and lootship six times. You're not exactly setting a record there for kills without a drop you want.
6 times is 6 weeks, right? That's still quite a period of time, all things considered. I've run H UP on my mage less times and had the Red Sword of Courage drop and be disenchanted twice (which I never got for my Pally... -__-;;).
The tradeoff isn't too bad - you're getting a very hefty increase in threat, in exchange for some avoidance. And even the avoidance is mitigated by the dodge and armour you'll get from +Agi. The only thing that might be an issue is the +30 Stam.

IMO, 90% of boss loot is tanking gear. Thats how it drops for me at least. Holy/retri:D

No. 90% of boss loot is cloth with Hit Rating and one handed DPS weapons, mostly daggers. Every boss seems to be able to drop at least one of those, and they drop them very enthusiastically.
My raids rogue has so many weapons he could be called the Jack of Blades. (Fable 1)
In my offspec (moonkin) i look like a T10 priest and have pretty much infinite Hit Rating.
Go figure...
edit: Btw, my guilds other tank (prot pally) usually tanks trash with a relentless one handed sword. I also tank trash with a DPS two hander socketed with STR gems :V

If you are slacking on dps/threat, use the dps wep. If not, use the tanking one =)
Also, if you don't want to wait for the 251legs to drop from funship, prices on Primordial Saronite are going lower very day so the BS pants might be an option for you. Pillars of Might.

Not very long at all if you look at drop ratings. Roughly 21% on the Red Sword (1 out of 4 epics aswell) and about 14% chance on the icc one (1 out of 12) . Done 45 runs in UP hc (on my pala) and seen it 2 times.
Red
should
drop on our 5th run and Bonebreaker
should
drop on our 8th run (note the words in bold). Talking about statictics regarding drops into wow is like spitting in the atlantic ocean; useless.

I realise, my point was the fact that he's been waiting a month and a half for it to drop. Looking at number of times run isn't really that spectacular. My second 80 hasn't even been 80 for that long yet.

Took me 4 or 5 marrowgar kills for the bonebreaker scepter, and it took 11 gunship kills for the shield to drop for me. I just completed run number 12 last night and we are up to putricide right now. Here's a list of what I have seen drop as far as tanking gear in the first wing in 12 runs:
Bonebreaker - 3 times
Marrowgar Neck - 1 time
Deathwhisper chest - 2 times
Shield - 1 time
Lootship Ring - ZERO TIMES
Saurfang pants - 1 time (last night)
Saurfang wrists - ZERO TIMES
That's my experience.

Hmm, I have no idea what your complaint is, really I dont get it, I have killed Marrowgar 18 times ( went to check armory) and I have never seen the tanking neck drop, so 6 times for for the mace or the shield is nothing really.

In terms of threat yes you should see an increase with a 2.6 speed weapon. Weapon speed has a lot to do with the threat of a weapon. I personally have been wanting a bloodvenom blade from 25 man saurfang but we don't kill him on normal anymore, only heroic. So now I have to wait for all the dps to get theirs before I can snag one. And I don't run 10 man content anymore. I want a good 2.6 speed dps weapon and throw berserking on it and have some fun with AOE tanking and trash.
And anyone who tries to say that a 2.6 speed weapon isn't a threat increase over a 1.6 speed weapon is wrong. Though it is really only useful on things like trash and heroics and such and shouldn't really be used on bosses, unless boss damage is trivial. You can swap weapons on boss fights anyway..

Statistics don't work that way so the epics you want shouldn't drop then.
Every time you kill the boss you have X% chance of a certain to drop regardless of what happened in the past.
EG: if you do lootship 100 times without a drop, then the next time you do it, there's still a 14% chance to drop and not anything higher or lower.
And why are you telling this to Felet? Let me highlight something for you.

If anyone did not notice, the subtle thing in the second sentance is called irony. Here lemme point you to wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony
The second, ironic sentance, was there to explain that the writer does not really mean the first sentance seriously, and that he knows that many times it is actually exactly the opposite way than he depicted in the first sentance (a.k.a. things that you want a lot take ages to drop, regardless of their statistic drop chance).
Sarcasm lesson for dummies (Decendent, conas, and takolin) is over.

Unless this was an irony lesson in the sense that he
wasn't actually upset at all.

If item improves role then use. If not, not.
I don't care what it is supposed to be: tank, dps, heal, pve, pvp. I don't believe in all these rules people seem to think make up part of the game: It's a tank weapon, you can't have it!
!
I'm getting
this
for my lvl 2 rogue, but won't be pvping anytime soon.

I have run ICC10 and sometimes ICC25 just about every week since the place opened, on 2 toons, the one seeing most of the instance is my paladin, and I am yet to have ever seen the Mace from Marrowgar or Neverending Winter from the Ship Battle ever drop. Mostly see caster goodies drop, melee dps goodies too, a couple times some tank plate...but its rare.
But a while back I got a Gutbuster from Festergut, I put Blade Ward on it, works fine in heroics for sure, I am specc'd in Seal of Command, so when I use that, it does a nice bit of AoE threat and damage, can be fun.
Accidently used it in ICC last week, had no problems what so ever, but it helps to make sure you meet all tanking Defense, Mitigation and Avoidance minimums if you are going to use a dps weapon.
