I'm working towards that set at the moment. It is taking a bit of time (mainly due to bad luck in hcs) but it is worth the effort.

Well, there's always the
Ornate Saronite Battlegear
set that you can pick up at level 78. There are also several "Brilliant _____________" pieces that a blacksmith can make ranging from levels 72-78, but they're not very good due to the serious lack of intellect (literally, there is no intellect on them).
I mean, you're better off just doing what
Caean
said to do and grind heroics until you can't feel your hands anymore. If you're looking to get some experience healing as a Holy paladin first on your way to 80, you might want to consider picking up a few pieces from quests or buying some greens/blues off the AH (remember intellect > haste > MP5 > crit, and always gem intellect) to test it out.

So here's my question: is there a way I could toss together a workable gear setup quickly to be a decent Holy Paladin, or would I have to trudge through quests and instance runs to get the necessary equipment before I'd be able to do it?
The stickies above should help.
Also I dug up a really old post of mine when I was leveling up. Stuff's probably outdated and you basically should just run ToC and ICC 5 mans till you're decked out in purples from drops or emblem purchases. Some of this stuff should be dirt cheap if anyone's making it still. Again, list is severely outdated.

I have one question about holly too, sorry for off topic, but making a new thread to ask that isn't great idea too, so Holy pala is tank healer, in 5-mans you have to heal everyone, thats pretty obvious since noone else will do it, but how it looks in 10/25 man raids? Do I only spam holy light on tank and don't care about the raid(job for 2nd/3rd healer), unless ofc critical situation appear?
That's propably noob question, but i just have to ask it ;d
And now on topic:
Well i think it's good idea to start as ret anyway (you will have gear from quests, and you will be pretty much carried anyway by the 5k+ gearscore guys from random) use this time to gather holy items (roll on retri ones too so before you change to holy you will get upgrades) and then when you gather decent starting set just respec change your gear and be happy. I did it on my pala (however I'm tank) when ppl saw tank with 22k hp they were just leaving from party, so I went as ret and respecced later when I had about 30k hp(which was enough for party members to stay ;d).

Furious Gladiator's Libram of Justice
I find that it works well for just farming heroics since most tanks won't take the amount of damage that would call on you to be using HL a lot. So if you have some spare stone keeper shards, trade em in for the honour tokens and send them to your pala. Handy when getting started ^.^
