What kind of shops can you buy from online in Aus? $1500 is a lot for a PC if it's USD, not sure what that is in your currency.
Here are some buying guides to at least give you an idea of the parts you should be looking for. These are desktops:

you can get a laptop that will run wow with ease for around 500 australian these days. go to a place like Harvey norman or JB hifi, or eastern states equivalent.
OR, go the alternate route and build your own PC.
I just put a dual core athlon desktop system together, with an AM3+ motherboard for 400.

My favorite online comp shop is
Tiger Direct
. They sell computers, parts, barebones kits, whatever you want. You can definitely get a pretty nice system with that budget. WoW doesn't need top of the line graphics and processor to play smoothly even at the higher graphics settings. You could get a very decent system for about $800-$1000 US, and have a few bucks left over for some peripherals, or maybe shipping costs (not sure how much it is to ship to Aus).
Also, as mentioned, if you're tech savvy you can totally build a much nicer machine for around the same price. Just remember when you build your own, you have to buy all of your software, including your OS, seperately. Unless you happen to have it all already from an old system.
