Hey there,
I myself have a disc priest and I must admit it can be tricky at times as we have soo many healing spells and its not just a spam click just some healing classes.
The thing with disc priests is, although they're good with small dungeon groups they aren't as good in large raids cause they're meant to focus on 1 or more targets, so unless they heal main tank all goes sideways. I have also tried druid healing and I must admit is it boring because it's just spamming between a few buttons.
Although druids do heal pretty easily and quite high, I have healed higher than a druid who had better gear than me in a raid, so it goes to show that just spamming the buttons you have doesn't make you better than a disc priest :P cause we rule!

Holy is as simple or as complex as you want to make it. That's why I love it.

Surloin, do you even play a priest...and if you do, do you go disc? 2 seconds less on Penance is our BiS glyph.

Hmmmm... I have both a priest and druid. Both are similarily geared, and do both 5 mans for badges and raid as healers (druid is tank/resto, priest is Disc/Shadow)
I also have a shammy and a pally. Have tried healing with both and abandonned those specs for them.
My thoughts on Disc vs. resto druid. I am assuming regular difficulty, rather than the current - run though a heroic just casting Holy Nova, or a rejuv once a week... :)
Both are remarkably similar in some ways. You need ot think ahead far more with both. Many druids forget rejuv's FIRST tick is after 3 seconds, so post hotting someone who maycontinue to take dmg unless you swiftmend is silly... Ideally you pre-hot peeps who are about to get beaten on. Similarily, Disc priest's preshielding does wonders for buying you time. Casting a shield after the fact, despite the weak front end talented heal, is silly as well. So, tactically, Druid and Disc are best if you enjoy anticipating what is going to happen. Both keep you constantly casting, often a fairly decent number of spells, especially in 5 mans. Where the differ is in a druid's greater ease in AOE healing, since fire and forget hots are nice, as is WG. Disc's 3 sec aoe heal is a big piggy.... often by the time it hits you are literally praying people will still be alive... and it's the only aoe you have. On single target healing (I've tank healed ICC reg on both druid and Disc) I modestly prefer healing as Disc, though both are fine.
I find pallies and Shammies to be more reactive healers, and as such, less fun for me to play.
So, in similar circumstances, Druid and Disc feel more similar to me than you would expect. Having tried holy, I find that through probably incompetence, I don't use half the tools I am given, and feel it heals less well (again, through practice, probably) than my druid does.

I like how over half this forum is how they differ in 5 mans...honestly who cares? In heroics I dps as a healer...if someone takes damage I heal them in between fights (unless they are about to die) and on AoE spam Holy Nova.
In a raid, I'd recommend having at least one of each (holy priest/druid). That is because while similar, they are completely different in abilities. For slow, consistent damage, druids shine. For burst damage, priests shine.
ICC has a lot more slow consistent damage in it, thus holy priests have taken on a "druid" healing style with Renew, but still retaining the vast majority of their burst healing capabilities. Priests are not as effective when it comes to HoTs, but they are much more versatile.

PoM is OP. I love it. Also, 3 second AoE heal? Please. Get smart. Proc Borrowed Time before the AoE damage (if you can predict it).
Edit: spelling

The reason that OP feels that way is because Disc priests aren't "as equipped" to heal an instance like HHOR in the way a druid is. HHOR is damage all over the place. Tanks can't soak everything coming in due to multiple ranged targets which take awhile to wrangle, and healing after the fears from boss #1 takes awhile for a disc priest to catch up, but druids just pop WG and the existing rejuv + LB on the targets has them full before the next fear.
Druids healing HHOR, even while undergeared, is cake. A disc priest, no matter what gear, can be really challenged by it (paladins too).

It's apples and oranges. I feel that holy fits the HoR style better than Disc.
On druids, the HoT's take the place of shields. Rejuv + Wild Growth = ~4100 per 3 seconds, lifebloom at 3 stacks adds another 1300 per second, and glyphed nourish has extra crit chance (plus living seed which is druid's version of Divine Aegis). Nourishing someone with HoT's on them routinely crits for 15k on a 1.5 second base cast.
When I play Disc, I always feel like I'm falling behind when multiple people take a lot of damage, and on my druid, everything seems more manageable.

HHOR I find is easier to heal on a Disc priest than a Druid
1. Shield - Spam them and love them. Glyph them and proc DA off of it as well. Great Spell
2. PoM - Spam it on the tank and then let it do its work. Fire and Forget
3. Borrow Time - Shield and then hit this spell to let the group get some love.
4. Holy Nova - Not many people use it and you can spam it and let the love erupt!
5. Flash Heal - Got to love the 1 sec cast time with it.
6. GHeal - Sure it is slow; proccing a DA off of 25K crit = win.
7. Pain Supresison - Give me more time to heal you!
8. Pennance - Instant heal with multiple chances to proc DA
9. Grace - Win
10. 3% less damage?
/bookmark for later reference. (noob healer, starting w/ a Disc priest)
