I was thinking of downloading the Authenticator app for my iPod, but what happens if you lose it/it gets stolen? Can you remove the authenticator from your account?
edit: Sorry if a topic like this exist already, please put a link in this thread if it does.

Yes, you can call Account & Billing at Blizzard to have it removed. But, i would highly sugest you actually get the $6.50 Authenticator key chain. To reduce on it getting stolen. I know i never go anywhere without my Car/House keys, its the first thing i look for and pick up when i walk away. Its eather in my pocket or on my desk. My phone on the other hand, ends up under the car seat, on a bar stool, on the counter in the bathroom, etc etc etc.

Thanks for the quick reply, but for now I think I'll stick with the iPod/iPhone authenticator :).

iPhone authenticator is great. I bought the keyring one a bit back but never got round to putting it on my account and I didn't really want it attached to my keys making them even bulkier, but I'm never apart from my iPhone so didn't hesitate to get it sorted once my phone turned up.

You really shouldn't keep it on your keyring - keep it somewhere near your computer and easily accessible. I have a hook on the side of my desk I hang mine on. Unless you play WoW from multiple computers or on a laptop, there's no reason to take it with you.
In my opinion, you shouldnt keep it near the computer like that. If anyone has access to that computer, it makes it alot easier to log into the account. Keeping the key on you at all times prevents it from being used by someone covertly. I dont know about you, but my keys stay in my pocket or on me 24/7. Hence why its on a key ring

I appolgize for not starting the thread... How does the Key Chain Authenticator work? Just wondering for added WoW account security. Is it worth the $6.50?
The Authenticator has a button. When you push the button, it generates a 6 digit number. You have to log in the game with your normal user-name, password, and this 6 digit code. You have 30 seconds to use that code, or a new one will be generated. Once the code is used once within that 30 seconds, it can no longer be used. You must get the username, password, and the code correct in 5 attempts or less, or battle.net will temporarily lock your account.
So in other words. I don't know about you, but i can not guess a 6 digit number than changes every 30 seconds, and get it correct withing 5 attempts and 30 seconds.
