But putting 1 point in benediction is retarded even with 1/2 in imp judgements.
The argument is that 2/2 imp judgements is worthless. Yet, people still take heart of the crusader which is even more worthless than 2/2 imp judgements. You get more out of 2/2 imp judgements than 3/3 heart of the crusader.
If people who think benediction is worth it would use their brains they would know that 5/5 deflection 4/5 benediction and 1/2 imp judgements would be ideal to get to the next tier of ret talents. Even then it would still be fail. Even though 2/2 imp judgements and 3/3 heart of the crusader are worthless most of the time, they are still more useful than ANY points in benediction.

Ah here we go again, the great spec debate. My 2 cents:
Reckoning: not useless. Good for burst threat
Heart of the Crusader: Not useless, it gives EVERYONE IN THE RAID an extra 3% crit on that particular target. Add that up in a 25 man raid and you putting alot of extra hurt on the boss.
2/2 Improved judgements doesn't ruin a rotation, many end game tanks have it.
I haven't always used 53/18, but I became a fan of it after I saw the benefits of adding Vindication and Crusade to my arsenal.
Word to the OP, this is a touchy subject on these forums and you'll see alot of cut throat attacks on people here based on what they recommend.
I pretty much use a modified version of what one of the best tanks in my realm uses. Celez of Outlandish, their guild regularly downs lich king on 25 man heroic and this is his spec:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Velen&cn=Celaz&gn=Outlandish
This is my spec:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Velen&cn=Decendent&gn=Shatter
Only difference is I don't use Seal of Command.
Remember...how you spec also depends a bit on how you gear yourself and your general playing style.

It use nearly useless because prot paladins aren't the only people who bring this buff. It is a ret talent after all and even shamans bring the same thing in one of their totems, and some holy paladins have it too. So like I said, it's pretty much worthless. But people take it anyway over benediction. Why? Because benediction is even more worthless. So 2/2 imp judgements is better than 1 with 1 point in benediction. It doesn't do &*!@ for you.

I agree, 2/2 ImpJudgements doens't help your rotation, and benediction is a waste of a point, but you gotta choose something to get to the next tier in ret so ya gotta take one or the other.
As for HotC, if you have a retadin in your raid or a shaman dps, then it doesn't really do anything, but in my particular team, I'm the only paladin, and our shaman is a healer(i don't know a whole lot about shamen but I don't think he throws down the totem you refered to because I see my HotC debuff on the enemy at all times). So being my guild's MT for the core 10 man team, HotC is a welcomed attribute and I'm glad to be able to bring it to the table. Not to mention for doing heroics, im normally always the only pally in a random 5 man. Not that heroics matter but if you can have something in your arsenal that has a really good chance of being able to benefit everyone in your party, then why even question it's usefulness?
