The difference being Blood generates more healing through its high threat rotation, whereas a Paladin would be nerfing his threat to keep up his HP.
He was talking about which tanking mechanisms are unique and which are not. Considering the 2 other tank classes, Pally and Druid, which can heal themselves, I do not find the Blood self-healing mechanism that unique, eventually. Of course healing should be left for healers if possible.
Tanking without a shield or bear armour and relying on defensive cooldowns is actually more unique than the ability to self-heal.
Pally and Druid self-healing is not comparable to Blood tanks, because a Pally or a Druid has to stop their tanking entirely and heal themselves (which will increase incoming damage 'cause your avoidance goes away when you're casting (unless you bubble, which dumps your threat entirely)), or, in the case of a Pally, they have SoL / JoL, but that prevents them from using SoV / SoC, and hurts their threat a lot.
Blood tanks generate self-heals by using their optimum rotation, and therefore don't have to choose between threat / avoidance and healing themselves. Healing is healing, and it doesn't hurt even if it doesn't help that much; the big thing for Blood tanks in cata is that they will get their Healing Absorption from their self-heals as well.
My point is, though, I think there is plenty enough of a difference to consider the blood-tank style self-healing mechanic to be unique from the other tanks.

I'm backing up Hiisi in the frost tanking, but i have a different feeling about the other specs. From my point of view, blood should be the hard hitting two hand dps. Think of all the blood that will splatter when you hit with a two hander compared to dual wielding. And the bloodlust that takes over you after the hit, wanting you to get more blood ;)
I see the unholy as the best choice for dual wielding, since the presence already lowers the time between your special strikes. And also i have a little thing with the concept of "unholy speed", but that is just me. I would like to see unholy as the dual wielding, fast hitting whirlwind of black magic strikes.
I love playing my frost dual wielding death knight, but i do not see sence in keeping that in the frost spec, since frost has the idea of being slow and durable. That makes frost spec the most sensible choice to be the tanking spec.
