Ironforge and the Dark Irons have been at war since Vanilla, they did launch a number of attacks across the Dwarven lands.
It's not a 'real' war heh, more of skirmishes as the Bronzebeards aren't sending out a full army against the Dark Irons.

It's a real war, really. It's just that for all of Vanilla Blizzard pulled the "Our armies are overseas and can't do crap!" excuse and left it at that.
That's something...just where, overseas, were the armies of Ironforge and Stormwind? Certainly not all at Bael'dun or Nijel's Point...
They were off dealing with the aftermath of the Scourge War, Frozen Throne and Battle for Hyjal.

I'm torn on this.
I'm not sure if I want to see the Bronzebeards attack the Dark Irons as they are int he wrong to do so.
Unless Moira was ensorcelled by Thaurissan, but I don't believe she was. Thus I don't want to see a war, but if it happens I'll be the first one there building the forward camp.

They might be 'all over' but not as an army for the most part; they are attempting to weaken the forces of Ironforge with sabotage(destroying the Dam in Loch Modan), infiltration in a few places, but no real outright war moves. That's why they captured Moira originally, was to force them to give up Ironforge without a fight; when she fell in love with Thaurissan, and is now preggers by him, it's going to end up being a Civil War between those who support her and those who support Magni.... which is where the Three Hammers comment came from.

Dude, what? So...hell I'm not going to bother, the Dark Irons are all over the Dwarven leveling areas. Go to one and see what they're up to.
The Dark Irons invaded Khaz Modan and Ironforge would be in the
wrong
to start a war that's already been started?
So spies=Invasion? The war never actually started. Basically all that happened was that Thaurissan kidnapped Moira, and so you are sent to BRD to get her back.
Otherwise there were never any large armies that marched into Khaz Modan. If you did the quests in Dun Morogh you discover they are
just spies
.
And in Loch Modan you get:
Assassins
(for a quest I believe),
Insurgents
,
Raiders
, and
Sappers
.
Out of all of these the only ones that could be considered soldiers are the Raiders and Sappers, but they are more just that: Raiders and Sappers. Not soldiers.
Edit: And I suppose The Thandol Span could be considered an act of War, but seeing as how we retook the span... and that was only one battle... there is no war right now.
