Never said it was, but it has a point; if you fear death, your not going to live.

Never said it was, but it has a point; if you fear death, your not going to live.I don't fear death. I don't want to die, but I don't fear it. Otherwise I wouldn't be joining the Army next year.
But I get what you're saying. I just disagree that death is the next great adventure. I only get one great adventure, and I had better enjoy it because death is the end, not a beginning.

You know, I had another thought today on this topic while I was waiting for school to be over:
Being a de-convert of religion is like beig Buzz Lightyear. Ever thing you thought you knew was wrong, and it hurt to realize it. Some people fell into depression soon after. You're not a space ranger. Just "a stupid, little, insignificant toy."
But you're more than that. There are people that care about you. Yes, it won't last forever, but just because you aren't a space ranger doesn't mean you can't enjoy being what you are.

While I love what you're getting at, your analogy is flawed...
I
am
a space ranger!
To infinity, and beyond!

My thought about dying is that what you believe that you're going to go when you die, that's what's going to happen.
Like, if you're going to die and you think you're going into nothingness, you ARE going into nothingness.
I personally believe that even if I am an atheist, i still want to go to heaven, I'm sure the "boss" up there will accept me just for who I am, not because i worship him every sunday.So... You're an atheist... but you believe in a god...
What?
While I love what you're getting at, your analogy is flawed...
I
am
a space ranger!
To infinity, and beyond!
*zoooooooom*Well then I get to be Tychus Findlay.

I am terrified of death for the one reason that i have not completed my goals. If i complete my goals that i have set for myself, then the only thing i request is a wooden box, six feet under, no preservatives.
I fear dying alone and unremembered. A name in a book somewhere that one person may read 80 years in the future is sufficient.

No, what im trying to say is that if i want to go to heaven, i should be able to go to it if i choose. I also beleive you don't have to believe in god to go to heaven.
So you believe in Heaven, but not God? I actually think the second is more believable in this case...

I honestly can't fathom being 'nothing' after death.

Yes, to be honest, I can't either. But the thing is, I can't fathom something being infinite, or omnipotent, like God, and one makes more sense than the other.

My brother may have been joking, but he was talking about having his body be cryogenically frozen. On one hand, I don't mind the idea of coming back sometime in the future, but on the other, too far into the future and I would be effectively useless to society and I would know absolutely no one. To be honest I think I would rather just be cooked when I'm dead, I don't like the idea of my body being slowly eaten by worms, its just disgraceful.

Heh, most people would rather the mortal remains be cremated then buried; saves out on lots of costs... and you know, keeps the Zombies away.
