How do you deal with the possibility that death is the end?
"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."This. Mark Twain said that. Excellent quote.

If God showed up in your back yard telling you "believe in me , see i am real!" then every person on EArth would believe in him.

Which is stupid and dangerous. I've said it again and again, religion breeds ignorance and/or hypocrisy.

No, the point is to center one's life around blind faith in something that they can't see, hear, taste, touch, smell, or get any tangible evidence of.
That's the problem with religion, that people are expected to center their lives around it, as if it's the only thing that matters.
If God showed up in my back yard, telling me that he is real, that I should believe in him. Fine. I would. But that still doesn't mean I would worship him. My life does not revolve around the worship and reverence of a deity, and it likely never will, regardless of the consequences associated with that.

Well, yes and no. See the other thread again - if God showed up in your back yard, most people out there would still try to disprove him and blame it on science ;)

Right, obviously though God can make himself known absolutely, otherwise he isn't omnipotent. He could show up in your back yard in such a way that there wouldn't be a way to deny that he is God. Of course, if he shows up as a dirty old man preaching about how's some holy figure, then how would I expect to distinguish between that and any other mental case? Are you telling me that you would go to a psyche ward and start worshiping some of the patients there that claim they are God?

You miss understood me , but then again i wrote too fast and was in a hurry.
What i meant was you don't need physical evidence of God to prove that he exists.
If God showed up in your back yard telling you "believe in me , see i am real!" then every person on EArth would believe in him.
It's funny how we can see evolution occurring on a micro scale, how we can see that the earth is older than 6000 years and yet people still don't believe what is right in front of their faces.

QFT God created us in a way , he didn't say HOW , did he?
and should the Bible have said that we evolved from microorganisms?

And he should have came with wings and a shining light behind him?

If an all knowing deity exists and he wants me to believe in him, he knows how to appear to me. Of course, I haven't seen what I've been expecting, and if an all knowing deity exists, he knows I wouldn't be persuaded unless he appears in a certain way. It seems logical to conclude either a) he doesn't care that I believe in him which conflicts with most of the modern religions, or b) he doesn't exist.

I like the reference to viking mythology/religion ValkyrieRising, eighth grade history is coming back to me!
I love Norse mythology.
I assume that is why your icon is a Val'kyr, right?

I love Norse mythology.
Indeed.
Actually, I read an interesting fiction book in which we are the human race that is born after Ragnarok. The guy didn't believe it, but the thought past his head and he made a cool plot on it.
Cool theory.

On topic, how do I cope? Knowing I won't have to. I won't give a crap when I'm dead.
In fact, the fear of it is in my mind what started the ideas of Valhalla, Heaven, or whatever you name it. False hopes you can cling to to survive everyday life. But hey, who am I to take that from them?
