I have been told and also found on the net the best method of healing her is to Beacon of Light Dreamwalker and spam holy light on myself. This method procs the Holy Light Glyph and heals her more.
I tend to spam Holy Light on a tank early in the fight, but that's just because our tanks tend to die early otherwise. Then I swap to myself after a few portal phases with the Glyph heals.
If your camera is zoomed out, you might be misjudging how close you are/were to an orb in the portal. It takes more practice inside the portal to get it right. Also, watch for other people in the portal. The orbs splash the effect around a decent amount and you can catch their buff as well.
The reglyphing isn't necessary, but if you do intend to see how it works, just carry a backup Glyph of Seal of Wisdom. People really overtheorycrafted this fight thinking it'd really stress healing, but the matter ended up being that it can be finished without any specialization meant specifically for it.

Are you using Crusader Aura + AM to fly faster? Could help with your stack count for sure.
Also, I like to zoom in to first person for that fight. It makes hitting the orbs much easier.
Edit: I see the zoom tip has already been covered. Carry on.

The mechanic inside the dream portals are basically like flying mounts in the outside world. That's why crusader aura helps the flying speed.

How to: VDW
(TL;DR: who cares if you dont read:))
To maximize heals:
(peparation)
- Use Crusader Aura.
- Use Flask of the Frost Wyrm.
- Use Glyph of Seal of Light and of course dont forget to switch to Seal of Light.
- Use any kind of spellpower trinket instead of intellect one (but the EoT trinket is ok with spellpower on use)
- Use Libram of Veracity for spellpower bonus.
- (optional) Cast one Holy Light before the pull to get yourself the speed buff.
(begining of the fight)
- While running in, judge one of the mobs, and put Beacon on the boss. Also, dont forget to cast Holy Shock on the run.
- Run close enough to the boss. Note: her hitbox is HUGE, and I dont mean just the green circle. Basicaly, if you stay near any of her portals, she is still getting healed by Glyph of Holy Light if you cast on yourself (might not work for all portal spots)
- Start the Holy Light spam. Dont bother with Holy Shock in 4p T10 unless you are moving.
- As soon as you have both 0,5 speed buff from talents and Libram of Veracity proc, activate ALL your throughput buffs at once (Avenging Wrath, Divine Favor, T10, trinkets). Of course, if you have proc based trinket, wait for it to proc. Its also good to have Power Infusion from your local disco priest and call for Guardian Angel from his holy friend (its duration is short so dont worry too much about timing here)
- Ok, now you have about one minute till the first set of portals spawn. If you have one minute beacon and its going to end, dont bother recasting, just cast heals on the boss instead for the moment.
(portals spawn)
- When any set of portals spawns, just keep casting and think about where to go. Best solution is always a pair of two portals close to each other, with another healer (your flying partner) taking the other one, as long as they are within your reach without sacrificing too much time to run there.
- In portals, the absolutely best solution is to fly in pairs, or perhaps in even bigger groups. Be sure to stick to flying in pair on 10man too. Why? Because as long as its only you and an orb, you are trying to get two points on 2D screen to one spot in 3D enviroment. Thats not easy and it needs some practice, and may be very hard for some players. Moreso, each of the orbs keeps moving around certain point. But if there are more players trying to aproach the orb, it is a lot easier, and because the buff is a small AoE, if you are close enough, you will get it.
(in the portals)
- The best "first orb" is the one between you and your partner. Alternatively, its the one that is first in your general direction of movement - make sure you and your partner will fly in the same direction.
- Dont stop! You can make a brief pause on each of the orbs (to make sure they are taken - I usualy do a quick "dance" on the orb), but otherwise dont wait for your partner too much. Dont worry, he will catch up, especialy if you make the mentioned pauses on the orbs. Its far easier for him to pursuit a target in front of him then its for you too aim for the orbs and look for him at the same time. If you have problem activating the orb, wait for your partner to activate it. If both of you somehow miss it, then screw it and fly for another.
- If you are the one who is behind, try to aim for the space between the leader and the orb. In many cases it will be you who successfuly activates it. The leader will see he is flying well and you will be taking the orbs on a good pace.
- Stay aware of the time remaining! You want to take the last orb in about last five seconds of the portal phase.
- Try to quickly reapply beacon and judge as falling down and getting close enough to the boss for glyph healing.
(burst phase)
- Save throughput buffs for this phase. Everything you used in the begining should be ready again.
- When does this phase start? Well, even if you can heal for only about 40-50k each Holy Light (under 20 stacks). You ALONE will heal the boss for some 3 millions during Bloodlust. I usualy count 2 millions per healer in the portals. If the boss has more than that when you exit the portals, just call for Bloodlust and act like in the begining (wait for procs and use your buffs - just dont wait too long)
- Dont forget a fully buffed Lay on Hands
(HPS)
- Dont worry about your HPS being on par with some shaman. The only phase that makes holy paladin realy shine is the burst phase. If its short, then you cant beat a good healer of any class by much

I don't have much to add but that our holy pally is the shizzle on this fight.
We just 2 healed it, and and I think he was solo-healing the dragon with the other healer on everyone else...He did something like 70% of healing.

Just to reinforce how important it is to be healing someone beside Valithria and having beacon up on the boss:
http://www.wowmeteronline.com/combat/detail/2011578794#healingout
The glyph heal accounted for 1.2 million extra healing done to the boss. This was a heroic kill (save?) so the numbers will be smaller on regular, but the principle still applies. Also, on judging: If you drop out of the portal and can't judge something as you're falling down, and there's nothing near you, just heal. It's not worth the lost HPS running around trying to judge.

In 10-man, I've done this on both a paladin with 2900 score on wow-heroes and a shaman with a 2600 score. (For those that hate GS or similar, I'm using this strictly as a comparison of gear, which IS the intended use).
On my Paladin, my record is 19.1k on 10-man. On my shaman, my record is 20.7k. However, in order to that, my shaman was 99% on the boss (if I was helping on raid a LOT would go to overheals), while my pally is usually 73% on boss. My shaman does more healing on the boss, but my pally helps the raid a lot. Casting beacon and judgment takes up more GCDs when you spend half your time in the portals - same timer, but half the time spent outside, means you get a lot less heals in per cast of the buff-proc ability.
Now, I beat the shamans in 25-man, and I don't know why (it could be that in 10-man my pally didn't have heroism, been too long since I took my main in there), but both classes are actually surprisingly good at Valithria. Well pallies I expect, its surprising for shamans.
By the way, you're going to hate this:
On my shaman, I do a macro to target the boss and castsequence a tidal waves rotation. So excepting heroism, a "pwn" macro (all CDs at once), and maybe a mana tide to drop after I land from the first portal (when I don't quite have the stacks yet...my shaman went
pure
haste so I have low regen) is all I have to push.

Here's my problem: it seems like every time the portal time finishes, I have maybe ten second before the next portal opens. Doesn't feel like I have a whole lot of time to get much healing done at all, and if I'm lousy at collecting motes... ungh.
The point isn't to do a lot of healing during this time. You get a minute of sustained healing at the beginning, and a sprint at the end (45 seconds of all CDs popped, with 30-40+ stacks depending on how well you stack and such). The key is to not lose your stacks (i.e. dont miss a portal, grab orbs near beginning and end of portal so it doesn't fall off between) so that you are up there during the sprint.
During the sprint, I have heroism nearly the whole time. I'm getting ~120k HPS during that time, more or less depending on several factors (I'd say ~140-150k during my CDs and ~95-105k for the rest of the time, considering my 50% crit and the fact I've seen crits nearing 200k, and with hero my HL is slightly over a second). At 120k HPS for 40 seconds, that's 4.8 million right there. With 2-3 healers doing that you can easily blow her up 14 mil during that last phase (meaning you need 4 mil the rest of it, which you probably get during the opening burst).
