I'm confused about people saying I'm nuts for buying Celestial Steed.

I paid $25 for the mount because I wanted it, end of story, no explanation, no justification. My money, my rules.
And, in the same regard, I didn't buy it because I didn't want it, end of story, no explanation, not justification. My money, my rules.
So long as we don't get elitist people thinking they're "better" than me for spending $25 on an imaginary horse.

Now see, if more people thought like this (on both sides), there'd be no argument.

My experience so far (and let me stress MY experience) has been people acting elitist because they didn't spend the money. Though in all reality (in this very unreal game), it's easy to see the opposite being true.
In the evil part of my imagination right now, there's a couple Blizz employees high-fiving and saying things like "See, I told you this would create more internet drama than any of the actual game play changes we've made/announced!"

I thought this game is based on fighting over who's better. There are websites measuring guild progress, there is in-game arena ranking, there are in-game achievement points. And now you can add RL money situation to this.
Well ...I guess, if you have 25 dollars to spend and someone else doesn't, than you are better.
You can also look at it as a true customization. Maybe next time, it will be a glowing effect for $25. So you can glow. And than maybe for $5 you can get additional hair-colors (not available without spending the money), etc.

In skill, maybe. Not personal choice.
And what's wrong with extra customization? Sure, many people will feel left out because Blizz decided to charge IRL money for it, and it may be a bit on the ridiculous side, but it doesn't affect gameplay in the least.

Why does it really matter what other people think in the first place? :P

It doesn't, that's the thing. The problem is the people with the over inflated sense of self importance who think they have to shove their opinion down your throat to make themselves feel superior that are the problem.
Discussion is one thing, but most of the people who disagree with the horse are just downright hostile. But this is the internet after all.

QFT.
To all the people who bought the mount:
I hope you strut that mount around other people. I will be hosting ICCs requring you to show that you have the Celestial Mount before getting an inspection. Once the inspection occurs your GS will have to exceed 5500 to do ICC 10; clearly you cannot do ICC with a GS below 5500. Also if your DPS and HPS are less than 8500 DPS and 5000 HPS then I will boot you and Blacklist you. When gear drops you have to show that you have the money to take care of it for future raids. You MUST have at least 50k gold sitting around (since this game is EZ modes) and link it in trade with me before I give you the loot.
People who did not pay money for intellectual property are lesser than people who did pay money. God forbid that people pay for intellectual property for looks (Windows and Mac OS come to mind; try Unix/Linux or go play some command line MUDDS).

-UncleI hope you fall off your high horse. More often than not, players are disqualified from raids because of the celestial steed.
How can it be 'more often then not' as the steed has only been out for a Week.....(and my hunter wasn't kicked from any of the raids I've ran in the last week and I have a steed on all of my toons on the account).
