Because after a certain point, Blizzard doesn't want to us to level, and is intending to shift the focus to something else, but they don't want to admit that heh.

Blizzards only deal with level 100 is how long it would take to reach it. There isn't a fear of it, but just an awareness that there will be a paradigm change with leveling at one point. Its intimidating to new players to see this huge checkpoint to reach that seems so far away.
But I feel that there will always be leveling, I just guess that the level cap increments will be in smaller amounts in each following expansion.

The intresting thing about the gearscore mechanic is that someone is still effectively leveling there character up even at lv80. people spend more time at max levels doing dungeons and raids and achievements then anything they do leveling.
The obviously problem is that it can all become repeatative after a while.

You're actually wrong, they've openly admitted it already, and have also admitted that they don't know what that "something" is yet lol. In essence, they are stalling for time.
Heh.

They are going to eventually run out of "lore" to make "content" out of, and nobody will play anymore.
They can make up new lore for as long as they need to.
At the end of the day as long as wow is a cash cow they won't stop making new content and expansions, especially not for trivial reasons such as reaching a level cap of 100.

Something else crossed my mind: if they keep raising the level cap, it will take a lot longer for new players to reach the maximum, what in turn could prevent people from joining. Or they should make levelling a lot faster.
I'm not sure what the quantity of lvl75+ players is compared to the rest (1-75), maybe something like 70/30? That could also be a problem because the number of low level players would get really low when raising the level cap further and further (it will get torn apart so to speak).
What's your thought on this?

3. Levels ARE stored as a 2 digit number. The amount effort it will take to change cannot be expressed in linear time.

No, they are three digit. 255 is a achievable level, but only for GMs and for testing purposes.
