So with it not being parried or dodged your chances to hit are greater provided you are hit capped as well which will then help with your threat therefor increasing your TPS slightly.

2.9k TPS...
A decently geared dk tank can pull that with auto-attacks so I'm just gonna assume your reading your meters wrong...
I can get 7-8k relatively easily and my gs is around 5300.
Check your meters again because something is wrong. Dps will pull off that in seconds.

Expertise is point for point twice as good as hit prior to soft cap for threat. Once you reach soft cap its 1 for 1 equal to hit as far as threat generation.
As far as gemming prior to soft cap I can condone gemming expertise after you reach soft cap if you for some reason need to make a bonus outside of your meta I would say gem dodge.
PS Also theres a formula floating around that calculates expertise use as a mitigation stat based on parry haste reductions. However this is irrelevant except for 2 bosses in ICC (Sindragosa and Deathwhisper)

Third, no, more Expertise will not = more Threat. Get Hit Capped if you want more Threat. Or Spam IT, whichever.
Wrong. Expertise is point for point of the same value as hit. Depending on gear its generally easy to obtain hit cap through gear. At that point hit does nothing for you and expertise still will.
Expertise is generally the superior stat. The only reason we want any of it is because of IT as our opener. If we didn't use IT we would want to stack Expertise because it gives the same threat per point as hit and on bosses who do parry haste reduces parries and incoming damage. Granted few do parry haste in ICC but its not something to overlook for the fights that do (EG Sindragosa).
Also he asked if it would influence his threat in a way that gemming it would be advantageous. Which if he needs more threat without resorting to IT spam is true yes gemming Expertise will increase your threat. But so will Hit and STR. Expertise is the best stat to stack if looking for a threat increase because of what is stated above. Followed by STR due to parry rate gains but because of parry diminishing returns STR is a wash for an avoidance stat.
TL'DR- Yes you will gain more threat from Expertise and its a good stat to gem if you find you need more threat but don't gem for it if you do not have single target threat issues.

TL'DR- Yes you will gain more threat from Expertise and its a good stat to gem if you find you need more threat Source?
And yes IT Spam sucks, good thing you don't do it.
What kind of source do you want? You seem to misunderstand the Expertise "Cap"
26 Expertise remove dodges from the combat table which is a good thing. However unless you have 56 Expertise. At that point you remove parries from the table. Prior to that you still get the same gain Expertise because it removes parries at the same rate. Last time I checked all of our abilities barring IT can be parried.
Have a quick read.
But honestly 8-9k TPS is not bad in optimal gear most tanks that I know can pull 10-11k consistently.
At that point you need some help from your dps to not pull over you or toss you a MD or Tricks if you having a major issue with threat.

Ok I should have just written it differently from the beginning - Beyond 26 Expertise is worthless. Don't Gem for it, don't bother getting Gear with it if you can avoid it.
If you want to raise your Threat the best way is being Hit Capped
first
and Expertise Soft-Capped. Then go for the Expertise Hard-Cap but by this point you shouldn't need to.
Are you happy now?
No I'm not because your still wrong. Reaching for Expertise soft cap before going for hit cap will result in better threat. Each point of Expertise rating results in twice as much threat before the soft cap as each point of hit rating because its removing dodges and parries compared to just misses.
Expertise Soft Cap > Hit Rating > Expertise Hard Cap
And the only reason hit rating is worth more then Expertise past Expertise soft cap is due to IT acting as a spell so its worth slightly more then Expertise past the Soft cap.
But its all a wash past a point anyway because who cares what your threat is unless dps is passing you. If your pulling 8k TPS and your top dps does 4k TPS (just an example) then 4k of your TPS is wasted and if your gemming for threat stats its all wasted points.
