Moonkin Gear Questions

Hey there. I am a Moonkin in a raiding guild currently 6/12 through ICC (I realize that's not that far). Now that I've been getting some nicer gear, my biggest question is where do I put my +hit items? Tonight I received a
Nibelung
, and it's my understanding that this staff will be pretty much the best thing I can get until I can wrangle a
Frozen Bonespike
+
Shadow Silk Spindle
. However, I'm currently using an
Abracadaver
, which is where a large portion of my hit rating comes from.
Additionally, is there any way I can improve my spec? I like Typhoon, and am pretty much specced for single-target DPS and have no mana issues whatsoever, so should I drop both points in Moonglow, move one to Genesis and one to Brambles?
Also, what is the rough amount of DPS one looses by not using 2T9.5+2T10 until 4T10.5? I cannot, for the life of me, seem to get any trophies out of ToC25/ToGC (Using the helmet would probably cure my +hit ills, too).

I get a large amount of hit from the 264 dps caster Trinket, the rest I have comes from different dps caster items 232-264, most of them happen to have crit.
I'm still in two 9.25 tier pieces in my boomkin gear and I won't leave them until I get either two 264 items to replace it that give significant crit/haste/SP, or 4t10 bonus which is better imho.

Theres nothing wrong with going for 4t10 early if you arent running ToC anymore and are already that far through ICC. Your best bet for the hit is going to be tier gear (hands and legs) the ashen verdict ring, and either wrists, off hand or neck as there are quite a few options available in those slots in ICC.
This combination
+
Icewalker
on your feet will drop you dead on the hit cap in 251 lvl gear. As you get further into ICC and 265 lvl gear, the best place to put hit (imo) is on your wrists, as there is no available haste/crit combination in that slot.
This
is what I have earmarked for my final set if I can ever get that far. Im not sure if its exactly optimal as I havent run it through any comparissons, but I reckon its got to be pretty close... it also drops dead on the hit cap but using
Arcanum of Power
(a TBC enchant) instead of Icewalker.
Sorry, I forgot to mention my profile is in my profile.
This
is my character.
So I should be shooting for
The Lady's Brittle Bracers
then? I was going to start farming for the
Bejeweled Wizard's Bracers
, as I'm tired of having an ICC Heroic trash drop that isn't itemized well.
Also, should I use
Nibelung
only after I'm crit+hit capped, or is it alright to use it at hit cap only?
Thanks for all the advice. Also is the trinket worth using? My first trinket is really a healer trinket and I've been trying to replace it with
Reign of the Dead
since I can't get DFO/Phylactery just yet.

Speaking about Hit for Nelfs specifically. If you can consistantly have a draenei in your group (not just int he riad must be in your group) then is it Viable to get the T10 gloves and Pants + the rep ring and gem the last few point of hit by trading out your SP/Crit or SP/Haste gems for SP/Hit.
With T10.264 gloves, legs and the rep ring you will have 215 hit rating. Regeming 2 of your Ametrines will put you at 235 or just less then 2 hit rating away from the hit cap. Being short 2 rating is next to nothing in terms of dps.

Can be, but you know what RNG can be like, especially when you don't want it to be! I would take 1 gem and Icewalker to land on the cap and be sure...
Naw, Icewalker is not as strong as swapping out a gem for more hit and being just a tad short.. The boost from Tuskarr in ICC is worth being 1-2 points short. For me 1-2 points translates to 2 misses a night and worst case senario 2 SF's in a row will only drop my dps for that fight itself by ~50. Small price to pay.
The biggest issue I have hit rating wise is iFF missing which is just annoying and would still just as easily happen with or without those 2 points.
RNG is annoying and mitigating it to the best of your ability is more then worthwhile, but if you embrace that it exists and loosen your standards a bit you can really get that extra punch when it all lines up. With numbers as small as 0.04% miss chance you are not risking much.

Your biggest problem is that you have way too much spirit where you could have haste or crit. Here are the changes I would make:
Stormrage Crown
-->
Lasherweave Cover
Chestguard of the Failed Experiment
-->
Lasherweave Vestments
Cord of Dark Suffering
-->
Belt of Petrified Ivy
Band of the Invoker
-->
Runed Signet Ring of the Kirin'Tor
Ghostly Wristwraps
-->
Bejeweled Wizards Bracers
This isnt counting your hands or staff which I would also change but would directly mess about with your hit capping. All the above upgrades are available through emblems or crafting and will make a really big difference to both your low haste and crit ratings.
As far as the trinket goes, its obviously a healing trinket.
Purified Lunar Dust
is a better trinket of the same type and also available through emblems, but far from ideal.
Illustration of the Dragon Soul
, or
Eye of the Broodmother
would be nicer upgrades.
I'm working on all of those upgrades, and all but the bracers need Frost Emblems so I just have to play the waiting game for those.
Is the Kirin'Tor ring really worth it? That's like 10k gold.

Only if you have no realistic expectations of getting another ring in the time it would take to you remake that 10k gold and lose any buyers remorse. In short, No it is not worth it.

Imho, having two Hearthstones is worth it.

So the problem somewhat resolved itself with a nice neck upgrade from Gunship 25 and my Exalted Ashen Verdict ring. Thank all of you for all of your help; I'll be making the bracers in a couple of days.
As to my second question, what should I do with those two points in Moonglow?

Go do the Argent Tournament dailies until you get the tabard. That's just about the same thing and a lot cheaper.Not the same, it's minutes away from Dalaran !
That being said, i would cringe at having to buy it now with all it's upgrades, but i bought the initial version of it, used it for a few week/months, then got something better, then at the following content patch i got to reuse it again and then put it aside for better and so on.
As such, if you get it at the start, i think that it's really worthwhile because at teach content patch you'll get an easy upgrade that'll keep being usefull as 2nd hearthstone, and with a cost that's quite easy to shoulder after the initial investment.
I wouldn't necessarily advise people to buy it now as there are much cheaper alternatives (like starting with rep ring or triumph or onyxia quest ones), but if they keep that type of ring when Cataclysm comes i'll be sure to buy it again.
