If believing in God and Christianity is what makes her happy, then so be it.
Is happiness the be all and end all of belief, though?
I don't understand what you're trying to get at.
What if I had said, "If raping children and killing their parents is what makes him happy, then so be it," you'd see something wrong with that, right? What's wrong with it is that happiness is not the measure of how things
should
be when it comes to murder and rape. So I ask, is happiness the measure of how things should be when it comes to the integrity of someone's spiritual life?

Yeah, but some of the more extreme types say that unbaptized babies go straight to limbo if they die heh.
You do realize that Limbo is a natural paradise, right?

Not from what I've heard......

What I don't understand is why some Christians defend holiday's origional meanings. Nowhere does Christ teach that it is necessary, or even MENTION holidays based on Himself or His life. I think that Christians should focus more on what they are doing themselves, than focus on what society is doing. Imagine if Christians were always reflection on
self
, instead of outward, people would be more likely to respect them.
I mean, us, of course. I am a Christian. However, I don't harp on people for having Christmas trees, pictures of Santa, easter bunnies, etc. This has nothing to do with Christianity, so why should I be concerned?

Well, being that Christianity was created hundreds of years after Christ, it's no real surprise...

The accounts of Christ's teachings may have been put into book form much later, however Christians in the 1st century AD did exist.
Edit: And even if what you say were true, what does it have to do with what I'm saying?
Person 1: Cheetos are good.
Person 2: Yeah, but Buddah grew up in Vermont.
Person 1: No he didn't.
Person 1: What a second... what does that have to do with what I said?

Second, I feel that I should somewhat say something here. I'm a christian and I will not tell my future children Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or any other fictional characters really do exist. Mostly because I feel that if I tell them someone they can't see exists, only to tell them that he really doesn't... might interfere with their relationship with Christ.

Yeah, dishonesty really hurts your relationship with your children. Good point.
Strictly from a Christian standpoint, I don't care what atheists do to Christmas, since Christmas has nothing to do with Christianity.

I don't debate with you, Hyperspacerebel. Sorry, but past experiences with you lead me to avoid it, whenever possible. I hope you understand.

But I don't believe it is written 62 years after his death. Also, what evidence, besides unquestioning faith, do you have that anyone really said that?

Christ's Mass ≠ Christmas.
One is Religious, one is commercial.

Then don't bother replying.
You think Christianity is a personal religion. I think it's a communal religion. I think the whole "personal" interpretation that most Christian sects promote is abhorrently anti-Christian.

What? Do you even understand what you're saying? Christmas has been a religious feast day for quite a while.
But I don't believe it is written 62 years after his death. Also, what evidence, besides unquestioning faith, do you have that anyone really said that?
All history before the invention of the voice recorder is based on faith too then? You're grasping at straws to support your silly notion.

Now you see... this is what I'm talking about. Go back. I was the one who origonated the whole 'Christmas is not Christian' comment. Now, I did quote you in a post, but it was for context, and I wasn't aiming what I said at you. You then replied directly to what I said.
This is the kind of stuff that makes me not want to debate with you. It's quite rude.
BTW, I'll reply to whatever I want. If you don't like it, become a mod and delete my posts.

Come on. Really?

I don't know what you're trying to accomplish by quoting random things. I can do it too.
